Nothing to report this week. I didn't feel like playing any more A8 HSC, and also didn't play any other video games except Microsoft Solitaire Collection which I keep forgetting to record, and oddly there is no built-in time counter?

Here are my timings for this week (August 26th through September 1st, 2024):

Sorry, still no gaming. I'm still busy taking the things off my old flat into the new flat, but I'm nearly finished with it. Today I managed to clear the basement. But somehow it feels like it's been a long time since I've used all of this. That dire situation which began with the neediness of my father now has been going on for over 2 years...  since then it was a stream of activities which I was more or less forced to do. And something has changed by this going on for so long.. I do try to make space for all those things, but they don't make quite sense to me because in that dire situation I have no use for most of them, and even if that situation goes away after my move is completed, I still don't know what will happen because my father is dead now, and many of those things were bought together with the family, and meant to be used together, so they don't quite make sense for me to use alone. Even the house warming party will be somewhat forced, and I don't quite know what will happen there, I only know that I don't really look forward to it, but I'm rather afraid of it.

Aug 26-Sept 1: Just a little amount of games this week

Android

RB College - 18 min. Finished 3 more games with no star players.. Still not going well, only winning half my games. Most losses were due to fumbles, or not being able to control the clock (getting it under 30 seconds to the half) to prevent CPU touchdowns. Season 32 is nearly over.

PC Modern

Dark Forces - 45 min Just played the first mission and got stuck.

Atari 8bit

Ghostbusters 45

Atari 5200

Super Breakout 36

Yeah, so Circus Convoy!  I got a perfect game.  I've got a big writeup planned that I'll be sure to link when I post it.  Also played more Ghostbusters (of course), including a 40th Anniversary hack that mostly just adds a menu and then changes the game in a fundamental (not good) way - weird.

Ghostbusters 91

Believe it or not, but that seems like a new entry in the weekly tracker! I had to double check threads back to 2015 to see if anyone had posted times on that game before. There was a BASIC version previously posted, plus nearly every other system where Ghostbusters ever got published, but the Commodore 64 version hasn't been recorded until now.

Quite a week!

Airplane Seatback (Delta):

I tried to find the name of this platform or any information about it and didn't succeed. You can read reviews of some of these games here: https://www.kotaku.com.au/2017/06/every-game-in-my-delta-airplane-seat-reviewed/

Geospot - 45 min

IMG_8280.jpeg

In-Flight Brain Teasers - 20 min

IMG_8283.jpeg

Not reviewed, but this is a very simple trivia game where it is often hard to get one wrong.

World Wise - 30 min

IMG_8291.jpeg

Apple iOS:

Kumome - 45 min

IMG_8294.png
This new beta has adjusted the difficulty so it's still very challenging but not as crushing as it was originally.

Suika Game - 7 min

IMG_5535.png

Arcade:

Spy Bros: Pipi & Bibis DX - 11 min

This appears to be an edited arcade rom but call it Switch if you have doubts.

Atari Lynx:

Fishing for Atari - 5 min

Flappy Bird (Testing) - 100 min

Gotcha Gun Alpha - 20 min

Titan - 5 min

Don't count this for now, I'll break it out into individual games later when it is officially released.

This is an almost wholly different game from what I played, which had mine cart, biplane/balloon, and mountain levels. That is surprising.  If you wanted to REALLY be technical, I played a disk version AND a .crt file that was included with GB14.  I think the .crt was a converted tape version.  It was PAL and sounded just a little different.  I decided not to bother the tracker with such a minor variation however.

This past week I played:

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 for PS2 - 616 minutes

Progress:

I completed Dragon Universe mode with different characters additional times to unlock the rest of the playable characters and fusions, except I haven't acquired Gotenks who is found randomly in the skill shop. I also played and won World Tournament once with every character, normal with no capsules on Novice mode, then played Adept and Advanced using strong characters with capsules to get money and buy more capsules. I have about 57% of the capsules.

Actually I have previously merged the entries when @thegoldenband and possibly other participants have played video games in flight. In this case, there already is an entry for World Wise as played on Global Eagle, and I'd expect Delta is offering the same game, perhaps with different make-up.

It appears Qatar Airways has a similar selection, from a Google search result:

Games

Arcade - In-Flight PAC-MAN®. Arcade - Bloxx. Arcade - In-flight Brain Teasers.

Words and Trivia - Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?™. Words and Trivia - World Wise.

Atari 8-bit:
Boulders and Bombs - 9 min.

A8 HSC game in a slightly shorter round. I haven't read the instructions so I don't know what you're supposed to do or what you can do besides what I already did. Average rating on Atarimania but maybe it gets better if one reads the instructions (which I know is a lame thing to do, but sometimes one has to make sacrifices).

Here are my times for this past week (September 2nd through 8th, 2024):

Arcade:

Treasure Hunt - 53 min. in 2 sessions

TI-99/4A:

Treasure Island - 29 min. in 2 sessions

This week I did play two games... actually, I started Treasure Island and is arcade original, because the TI-99/4A version looks somewhat weird, and iI wanted to check if the arcade version is also weird. Turns out that this is actually supposed to be an isometric game, just on the TI-99 they didin't manage to put anything but streight paths for the player. I'd have kind of a 3rd concept, changing the isometric view which in the arcade is made up of cubes and cuboids to use slopes. But I didn't have time to put a fake screenshot for that yet...

On the search for a playable arcade version of "Treasure Island" I stumbled on "Treasure Hunt" in the arcade, which probably works on Scramble hardware. Your job here is to save a princess through various levels. I, however, made the mistake of not ever completing the first round because I thought you had to pick all the fruits and then wondered why nothing happened when I had picked all the fruit. In fact you only need to get to the top of the level, and then the next level comes up of, I think, 5 or 6 in total. I didn't manage to save the princess though. All in all this is a bit of a quirky game in which, similar to Treasure Island, you have to climd up to the goal (and then down again with the princess) while avoiding enemies (mostly big insects) which you can also shoot down after you've picked the first fruit.
