shoot the robots missile launchers, so at 3:16 or so you will see the shot goes into the right arm and goes back and forth slight across the chest slightly towards the other arm and back into the hole again. You damage him and blow it up inside him. He dies.

The Robot is the easiest bit so try again if you have time....

Trbb's official Zaxxon Hints

First Stage - learn what kills you (usually sweeping right when firing) and avoid it. Don't be too aggressive, you shouldn't lose any men here.

2nd Stage - Not worth going for the 1000pt bonus but not much fun just hiding so I'm going for pick a height (1 or on the ground) and stick to it - look for them changing to that height and fire four shots as they cross you. Stay Mid/Right avoid left perhaps.

3rd Stage - Duck down immediately. Take out several fuels in a sweep across, immediately get up a bit, keep firing look for the missiles passing the gap under the forcefield - tap stick down a bit as required. Do not use the height gauge at all.

4th Stage - take out 3 fuels, set height to 1.5-2 and fire like crazy in the middle, take Mr. Robot out for a little destruction :-o

 

If your missiles are hitting him they are red, watch out for them going past him on the right edge of the TV - move left a bit to reposition.

Might be as we may have had the cassette version with the easy tunnel section. They can really go for you on this one. I've been trying various tactics, watch out for firing too much and masking their shots :)

The link on the first post to fandal's site is the correct version (XEX format) ;)

Just tried it under altirra - plays much slicker on NTSC than PAL.

The deaths on the right side (and later on in the third stage) are all to do with those sideways guns. The pause key lags on the Atari anyway, but sometimes you shoot through the first fuel thing and hit the gun, possibly you are moving and hitting your own missile. Either way avoid firing like mad and moving back on yourself. If you just sweep right firing 1234 it seems ok.

most of these are where another object is still fizzing after it has been shot, you die when you move left over it on your left back corner - so take a little time before moving left again.

Hate this game but here it is. For some reason the file in the first post just continually loads on my pal 1088. Seems to be osa only too.  The xex on the sdrive game files works though.  Going to try it on the ntsc 800xl next.

Had a weird collision issue in the first city where being low on side of screen would blow up even though nothing was there so just stayed high to get through that 1 spot

 

This it's possibly the fizzing remains of something destroyed as you move left again on the right side when firing a lot. It is consistent at least!
