my atari video music site

I just got my second AVM yesterday! I have always suspected my original of being a little flaky, so now I'll be able to check. I also want to mod it for video output rather than yucky RF... now I don't have to be quite so scared about ruining my only one. :)

I have long been fascinated by crazy lights that react in time to music (the old ones are often called Color Organs), and some more contemporary videogame systems offer some kind of visualization to music. Jaguar CD has one, the X'eye has a kind of weak one, and the PSone I just got has some really nice patterns.

These all work pretty well from CD (though sometimes the PSone doesn't seem to be listening to the same song as I am), but the AVM is even ccooler because it can do its thing live from any analong source. Microphone, radio, whatever. That is wicked cool...

I've still got to run the output into my video mixer so I can overlay the patterns over some video or something.

You guys know that the AVM was used in a Devo music video, right?
