CincYnoTi
apparently, my goal is to have a boxed copy of every major label variation of every game...mostly NTSC, but not necessarily limited to that. also, every "external" box variation, plus every box that has a different manufacturer's sticker. i say apparently, becuase i cannot seem to part with any box that is different from one that i already have . "external" box varation... has anyone noticed that there are month/year production numbers on the inside of some atari-brand boxes? ooooh, do i want to keep this 10/81 version or the 8/81 version???? i just can't decide, better keep them both... is there anything more inclusive that someone is collecting for? ATARIPITBULL
My goal at first was to have every thing that was ever made by Atari for the Atari 2600 system, but now it seems that I am trying to buy every thing, from every one else that has made games, controllers and extras for the Atari 2600 system. Now when I say that I am trying to buy every thing ever made for the Atari 2600 system, I mean that every item is complete in there boxes, not just loose. I have an alright collection, it is not as large as some, but bigger than most and it seams that if I had won every auction that I had bid on ebay for the last 3 1/2 years I've been collecting, I think I would almost be there right now, so give a brother a break and stop bidding now!!! gospeedde
I set my sites fairly low. I want to own working copies of all NTSC games made for the 2600, not including prototypes, homebrews, or the porn games. I just want them loose, I don't need boxes or instructions but I take them if they come with the game. I also am not going for label variations. If a game is made by more than one company and has the same name then I only need one of them, but if it has a different name then I get them both (stupid Sears). Right now I have 246 games (no duplicates) and there are 117 more that I want. I'm going to have a De Is The Best Atari Collecter Ever party when I hit 100 games to go. I don't plan on telling any of my friends about any of you, they still think I'm cool. Realistically there are probably about twenty of the games that I want that I'll never own. At the moment I am still refusing to pay more than 10 dollars for Fun With Numbers so I may never own that one either. Rant rant rant. SimonTemplar
I would like to find the "Holy Grail" (shrinkwrapped Air Raid by Menavision). I am being unrealistic??
Megamaniac
My goal? To keep collecting games and manage to (1) play them and (2) remain married despite the $$$ and time....not in that order! Seriously though, as I only have around 110 cartridges, I will continue to collect those that are just plain fun (and cheap) and those that are fun and of moderate rarity. Some day I might go for a Crazy Climber as I adored that game...I just am not there yet. Give it time.... Makes you wonder how things will look when the VCS is 50 instead of 26! Trey
my goal is simple. to get every 2600 game ever made for as cheap as possible. problem is, i'm a cheap bastard and e-bay has killed the 'days gone wild' for the 2600. at least in my area. oh the days of the flea mall and picking up several games for a $1 each. RCorcoran
My goal is to build a nice collection of as many VCS titles as I can and just enjoy playing them. Here's what I have so far: http://www.snipercade.com/twingal/bin/ron_..._atari2600.html *NOTE: The dupes are label variations (pic vs. text, colour, etc.)
donkeykong1
My goal is to get at least 100 more games to to my collection of 2600 that consisits of almost 200 carts. But they are getting harder to find and more expensive. My main goal is to have 500 different Nes carts by the end of the year. I currently have almost 400. adams_ale
I probably have one of the smallest atari collections on here at just 42 games. Of the 42 I have 10 games that are 5's and above with the highest being a 7(TCM, xenophobe, Up n' Down). My goal like everyone else is to one day have a full collection, but I know that is impossible. I would be happy to have a couple of 10's, 9's, and 8's. I really just search for fun games and if they are rare that is my added bonus.
candiru
I guess my collecting goal would be to reach 200 unique 2600 games. Right now the number sits around 175 loose and boxed games. Oh, and to get a 7800. Since I rely mostly on thrift stores and flea markets it makes for slow going. I probably have one of the smallest atari collections on here at just 42 games. Have you made a couple of awesome finds or just been very selective about which games you choose to purchase? Just curious I guess.
Voch
I felt good after getting all the Rarity 1's and Rarity 2's but now see I have a long way to go compared to you folks. My current goal is to collect almost all or all of the common games and occasionally go for a rarer game that I actually "care" about (have played in the past, have knowledge of, have played the arcade version of, etc.). If I see something for cheap in a thrift store or, yes, even eBay I usually go for it if I'm in a buying mood. I'm not doing too bad as I have tons more games now then I did as a kid growing up with Atari and have diversified to some of my other favorite systems: 255 Atari 2600 carts, 41 Atari 5200 carts, 17 Atari 7800 carts, 17 ColecoVision carts, 60 Intellivision carts, 11 Odyssey2 carts, and 9 Atari 8-bit carts. ATARIPITBULL
CPUWIZ, after seeing that little picture of your collection, I threw up all over my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next time I'm in California, to see my dad, I'm hitting your house late at night for a little shopping spree, so don't sleep to soundly. |

Have you made a couple of awesome finds or just been very selective about which games you choose to purchase? Just curious I guess. Atari games are plentiful around here at the flea markets and pawn shops so the majority of my collection(common carts) come from there. I guess these rare games really are rare because I have yet to find a rare cart in the wild and have had to buy them on ebay. I am new to collecting atari with only one year under my belt. I had a lot of atari games as a kid but they were sold at yard sales over the years until I picked it back up and realized what i was missing. The only rare cart that I had as a kid was Jawbreaker by Tigervision and I got that once again from ATARIPITBULL. I was talking to a roofer who I work with the other day and he told me that he has a few boxes of atari games if I want them!!!!!!!!!!! Probably nothing rare, but there is a chance when he says that he has a lot. I'm waiting for him to get back in town so I can go over to his house and pick them up. I have tried as hard as possible not to sound overly interested. He thinks they are just junk that is filling up his space. Hopefully my collection will be growing very soon. I say the same, the only time I play them is when I test them out. Only the games I really like, I play regularly.
