Dino from Bula
Is there a way to adapt an LCD projector (Epson PowerLite 50c) for use with an NES Light Gun? I teach Criminal Justice in a high school, and want to use Hogan's Alley for shooting simulation.
Susuwatari
It could be done but I don't think it'd work. Light guns were designed to work on CRT and LCD displays the image a bit differently. You could try using those CRT based projector that project a large image onto a screen, that might work.
+Stephen Moss
IIRC that is a its a video projector that displays an image on a screen set up on the other side of the room as opposed to a projection TV, if this is the case then it is unlikely. Light guns work by recieving light emmissions directly into them, as the output from the projector would be comming from behind you there is no way it can receive an input and its unlikely that any reflected light signal would be strong enough to cause a response. Although it may be possible to increase the sensitivity of the light gun to work with the reflected LCD image I suspect that I would be difficult to obtain satisfactory results. Nukey Shay
Not to mention that it would be simulating firearm target practice as much as a standard television already does (which is to say very little). The lightgun is nowhere near the weight of a real gun, and there's no kickback involved.
CincYnoTi
if you set up a tv monitor in just the right position between the gun and the screen, it could approximate the right aiming simulation. but the shooter would have to hold the gun relatively still, no large arm movements, since that would move the gun away from the monitor. CincYnoTi
maybe a diagram would help. you would need to have a dual monitor setup. if the epson has the extra outputs, that would be the video feed for the monitor. otherwise you would have to hook the NES to a TV that had outputs you could hook to your projector.
