That big barrel thing is just to help cut down on possible interference coming from other gear. Never really been a problem for me... Now you've just got to pick up a 32X to make the Sega one of the most insane expanded systems ever! I've got the Sega I, Sega CD, and 32X setup, and I love that when you put it all together it's almost a foot high!
