Classic Pac
I know this is common sense but the last 3 money orders I recieved didn't have one. When sending in money order or check to someone for something you want just enclose a little note telling the seller what you wanted. So you won't be like me, when 3 people send you a money order months after you last PMed them, thinking the order was cancelled and them sending you a money order completely out of the blue, and you having no idea what they wanted. sku_u
That's one of the many reasons I don't accept money orders for things I sell anymore.
Albert
I've received hundreds of money orders over the past few years and I don't think I've ever had a problem matching them up. For orders in our store, it's not usually an issue as the name and/or address on the envelope used to send the item usually matches the name used to place the order. Also, the amount should match up with a recently placed order (and there aren't that many outstanding orders at any one time where you'd have many orders with the same amount). And people will often write down the order number either on the money order or enclose a copy of their invoice from the store. Things can get trickier with eBay auctions if the purchaser hasn't sent you any of his contact information and you just get a money order out of the blue. I can see this being an issue when running a lot of auctions at once, especially if several end for the same amount (say, you run a lot of Buy it Now auctions for items with the same BIN price). But most people do write something down on the money order (the auction number, or their ebay ID, or the name of the item(s) they bought, etc.) and I don't get too many "unmarked" money orders. I know when I send out money orders to purchase items (which is petty rare these days thanks to PayPal) I always make sure my name and auction number(s) are on the money order. ..Al
