Cootster
I've had the same Vader 2600 for, uh, 22 years today . . . That particular one no longer works, though.

donkeykong1
All the systems I bought new, I still have. Ironically though, the very first one I got which was a Vader 2600 was given to some of my cousins and replaced with a 2600 JR.
spacecadet
I didn't start really caring about keeping my systems until around 1995 or so, after I sold my Genesis and then really regretted it. Here are all the systems I owned new, and their fates: 1977 - some sort of Pong - fate unknown, possibly still in storage 1978(?) - Coleco Telstar Arcade - in a dumpster somewhere 1980 - Intellivision - same as above 1982-ish - Intellivision II - possibly in storage, but if it is, it's buried (I've looked for it) 1984(?) - Apple //c - still have! 1986 - NES - sold to a friend 1989 - Gameboy - still have 1990 - Genesis - traded to a used store for one PlayStation game 1995 - PlayStation - sold off through the internet in 1996 1997-ish - Gameboy Color - still have 1999 - Saturn - still have 1999 - Jaguar - still have 1999 - Lynx - still have (yes, I bought one new in 1999) 2000 - Neo Geo Pocket Color - still have 2000 - PlayStation 2 - still have 2001 - Gameboy Advance - still have 2001 - Xbox - still have 2001 - GameCube - still have Shortly after I dumped my Genesis I got nostalgic and started appreciating the classics, and I decided I'd a) replace all the systems I'd sold off, and b) buy all the systems I'd always wanted but never had. First purchase was an Atari 2600 off Ebay (which was brand new at the time) for $15. I've since replaced my Genesis, Intellivision, NES, and PlayStation, and I've bought a bunch of new systems I never owned before. I still really wish I had my original Intellivision, which was the first "real" system I had. I was like eight years old at the time, video games were still really new, the Intellivision totally destroyed the 2600 graphically and so it was totally the system I wanted. Getting that thing for Christmas in 1980 is probably the best videogame-related memory I have.
eric_ruck
Interesting question. I think the oldest I have that I bought new (or a parent bought, depending on how long ago) would either be my Atari 400 or Video Pinball. Since then I still have the Lynx and Jaguar purchased new, then most of the systems from the original grey box Playstation on. Still play the original Lynx and Jaguar. madmjennifer
I still have my original NES because thankfully my parents wouldn't let me sell it when I was 12 and had the new SNES. I never had the zapper or the powerpad so I've had to add those accessories recently. I also have my original Gameboy, SNES, Sega, and Game Gear. While I don't have the boxes anymore for most of these, I do have all the instructions and all the controllers and power supplies and stuff. Gotta love packrats. bcostin
Let's see. I have my original 2600 (circa 1980), but it stopped working about five years ago. I also still have my original non-working Vectrex. I have working ones too, of course. I didn't have any other game consoles back in the day (which probably accounts for my desire to collect all the ones I missed) but I still have my original C64, C128, and Amiga computers. ozatariprincess
As far as vintage systems go, the only ones that I have still from when they were new is the original black and whit game bot and also the silver game boy pocket. All my other consoles have died or I stupidly got rid of them when I was a kid. My NES and SMS2 both died on me, so were thrown out. My N64, SNES, SMD2, Colecovision were all binned. So now I have spent the last year or so rebuying them all, with all the games.
Rockin' Kat
I still have every system I bought new, first one being my NES. I've never understood the idea of selling off your old game system when you got a new one. You never get what you paid and the games are still fun. Stingray
I still have my Sears heavy sixer that I got for xmas new, but I obviously didn't buy that. The only systems that I bought new with my own money are NES, SNES and PS2, which I do still have. Everything else in my collection was purchased used. -S
