Wrathchild
Hi, Has anyone got one of these running on an STE? Are they still available? Better than a cartridge port version? This site was last updated in 2002 , but mentions boards being made: http://users.pandora.be/saka/atari/ethernet/ethernea.htm This site has details of the software: http://home.arcor.de/thomas.redelberger/prj/atari/etherne/ This site shows another option: http://fujiman.no-ip.com/EtherNEC.htm Also, what options are there for internally mounting a ~1Gig 2.5" IDE hard-drive Thanks, Mark

krupkaj
I would like to build EtherNEA for my TT. It can take benefit from IRQ line from DMA. I think the driver is smarter as it can just wait for interrupt insted of polling ROM port.
danwinslow
The EtherNEC works great, but it's not very fast, is what they mean I think Dark.
krupkaj
I think EtherNEC is on the limit of ROM port. When download I reach 180 KB/sec and upload 290 KB/sec between my TT and Linux box.

Its just a quick 'n easy solution for getting on a LAN with a standard ST. Now when the EtherNAT comes out - CT60'ed Falcon owners will be able to rock. +DarkLord
You bet Falcon+CT60+EtherNAT==gud 957493[/snapback] Damn straight! Now, thrown in the SuperVidel, and man, I'm about to get really excited! There's definitely 2 points in time where I would have found it hard to imagine (or believe) all the wonderful hardware that was waiting to come out for the Falcon 1. The day I bought my first Falcon 2. The day Atari folded It just keeps getting better and better. :-)
Goochman
Just to make sure Im not missing anything new - I got a NE2000 compat Ethernet card->cart port connector a few years back for my Mega 2 ST - Only thing I could get to work was FTP on my home network - nothing else - That pretty much the best I can expect with a Mega 2 ST? You should be able to use the WWW as well. Highwire, Cab, AtarICQ, FTP, MyMail and others. I think you have a wrong configuration in you route.tab or default.cfg. I can only assume that e-mail would work as well, can't see a reason why it wouldn't, even though I've not actually tried that yet.
Goochman
Ok - being a newbie here - I tried I think STing way back with no luck WWW'ing. What is shareware or freeware that I can try this on my Mega 2? Like to see this work. Any place with download and decent instructions in English? I don't know any other route with the EtherNEC. Maybe someone else does? You should be able to download STing from any of the Atari ftp sites. I believe thats where I got it from. The Belgian FTP site. I installed it according to the docs, then used these 2 web sites, IIRC: http://www.dwade.freeserve.co.uk/atari/main.html http://home.arcor.de/thomas.redelberger/prj/atari/etherne/ Nope, looks like I downloaded STing frome here: http://www.ettnet.se/~dlanor/sting/html/file.htm HTHs.
