Sayton
I posted this on another forum and only thought it proper to put it here as well... Her name: Doris Self. An 81 year old woman, she was hooked on the game Q*Bert and at one point held the World Record for it. She was given a Q*Bert arcade machine from Billy Mitchell, which she played almost everyday. Sadly, she passed away from an auto accident. (Source: Twingalaxies) There are many of us who see the arcades as a dying breed, something many of the younger generation will never see. Alot of us are looked down upon for playing video games from the older generation. Yet here was an 81 year old woman who was hardcore about an arcade game....Q*Bert. My hat is off to you, Doris Self. Thanks for keeping an oldie but classic alive. I hope Heaven has an arcade with a Q*Bert machine, just for you.

SteveW
Man, that's sad. She made a decent amount of news in the past year or two. I remember hearing an interview with her on the radio, and reading a few news reports of her love of Q*bert and holding the high score. I hope the family donates the machine to someplace like the Smithsonian, Retropia, or Twin Galaxies. It would suck if it just sat unplayed in someone's garage or something. Her personal cabinet should be played by others who love the game just as much as she did. It would be really good if it had a memorial plaque on it, too.
