Summer Plumber part 5

I woke up at ten pm the night before last and didn't get to sleep until 7 pm last night. 20 straight hours of being awake can really mess up your mind. Take for instance, me trying to put in the fireball in the Plumber game. I worked on this at like 3 or 4 pm and just couldn't get it to work right. I worked for like a few hours or so until I realized I wasn't going to think of a solution if I kept trying because I was really tired. So I went to sleep at 7pm or so. Woke up at 3 am. I usually get ten-12 hours of sleep a day, but I got 8 instead and I'm still kind of sleepy, but not as much as I was. So I looked at the code and thought of something: what if I changed the address of the fireball direction variable from 2c to 35? Lo and behold, that simple thing solved all my problems and the fireball was working correctly on real hardware. The game is a lot harder now that there's a fireball to dodge, but I don't think I'm done quite yet. I think I'm going to take a break from this. I know I said that yesterday, but something came in my mind that wanted me to at least get the fireball in before I take a break. The high score function in version 4a wasn't working correctly, either, but I fixed it. I have 309 bytes left, I've used up 1,739 bytes, which hopefully will be enough to add in another enemy type. But I'm really sick of working on this, so I am going to stop before I go insane. Of course, if you're programming a game for a system that made its debut in 1978 and not as popular as an Atari 2600, you'd have to be a little insane.
