Sleep, glorious sleep
After a stomach ache and vomiting, I went to sleep at 4am. But before I did (and while my stomach was hurting, but not so much), I decided to start an Odyssey 2 game about my situation. The game is called, quite appropriately, "My Stomach Hurts!" The game's mechanics are quite simple. At the bottom of the screen (the stomach area of a body), there are little bugs (not actual insects, or programming glitches, either.) moving around left and right randomly. You take a pill by pressing ACTION. The pill moves down straight from the center of the screen. The object is to hit the bug with the pill. If you hit it, you score a point, but there will be another bug coming from the bottom to take its place. If you MISS, however, the player's health, shown by a single-digit health meter, will deteriorate. If the player's health meter reaches 0, then the game ends. It took a few tries to actually make the stomach bug's random movements work on real hardware. It has been a while since I programmed the Odyssey 2, so I thought I'd give it a try again. I don't know why I chose the Odyssey 2 to do this, I could have just have easily chose the 2600, or even the INTV, but in the end, the Odyssey 2 gets this game because I haven't programmed on it for a while. I also had a little trouble designing the bug. In the end, I just chose the letter Q character and cut off most of the top. But anyway, I feel better (for now at least.) Sleep does wonders.
