Now It's Not My Pancreas

Continued from a previous blog entry. I went to a gut doctor today (a belly specialist). He said that the numbers aren't high enough to be any form of pancreatitis. According to him, the scans don't show anything wrong with my pancreas. And my symptoms don't match up either. He thinks it's probably my gallbladder and the no fat/low fat diet I'm on works for the gallbladder too, so I should just keep doing what I'm doing, then see him again in 2 months.

I wonder how many games feature the pancreas. I can only name one off-hand, namely Gerry the Germ Goes Body Poppin'.

It sounds like could be caused by gallstones. So the ultrasound didn't find any gall stones?

I had gallstones and pancreatitis. I spent a week in hospital, they had to treat the pancreatitis before they could take out my gallbladder. I had CT scan, endoscopy and ultrasound. They found the gallstones on the ultrasound, there was so many it looked like a game of Asteroids.

Soon as my gallbladder was removed I felt so much better.

Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!

They didn't see anything with the ultrasound or the CT scan. So supposedly I have no stones or anything. Switching to a mostly no fat diet seems to have fixed the problem. I was eating way too much crap, so this is good for me anyway, even if I didn't have something wrong with my gallbladder.

A friend of mine was going through something similar and it turned out to be something called "Non-Functional Gallbladder." He was basically experiencing all the symptoms of gallstones without actually having them. His doctor confirmed this with something called HIDA scan, which showed that the gallbladder was not emptying fully. He got his gallbladder removed and is doing better.
