black and white burgers (part 18)
Yesterday I made the score quit flashing when a milkshake was hit. I finally figured out what was causing this problem:
As you can see, the score was holding on to the rightmost pixels of the 0 when it changed from 20 to 21. As it turned out, the width for the 1 digit was one less than all the other digits. So I had to look at someone else's code that I didn't understand to try to change the 1's digit's width to be the same as all the others. I finally found the digit widths, changed it to four (the pixel width of all the other digits), and the problem went away:
Stupid number 1 being narrower than all the other numbers. I hate the guy who designed our numbers. Like the guy who invented the Latin alphabet. Why does I have to be so narrow? Anyway, now the game looks smoother without the score flashing every time a milkshake is hit. I still do, however, have to change the readout of the score to blank spaces to make sure the previous score gets erased completely. But that only happens once, at the beginning of a new game.
Where is everybody? I posted a status update this morning and went to sleep and woke up 9 hours later to find it was only #2 in the queue!
