back to the Game Gear.
Today's Game Gear coding session was fruitful. I got the beginnings of a level 4 in the game.
The burger goes under water. Tomorrow I will compose some music for the level and then I will be done with level 4 and move on to level 5. In the ROM in the link of my signature, there is a level select cheat for testing games. On the title screen, press 1 for the level you want to start on. No presses starts you on level 1, one press for level 2, and so forth. I will probably remove this in the final ROM.
I finally thought of the song I wanted to simulate in level 1. Oddly enough, it's called "Over the Waves,"
I think I have enough room for 10 levels this time, and an ending and a game over screen. Banks 4-7 are completely empty. I changed the way the nuggets work, instead of having level 1 be nuggetless, I decided to make level 10 be nuggetless, which would make that level the hardest. I am wanting to add a new enemy come level 6, a hot dog, but I don't know what his projectile should be. I have the milkshake shooting onion rings, the burger shooting French fries, the pizza shooting pepperoni slices, and the taco shooting nachos. I colored the nachos differently so they should be easier to see on a bright blue background, like the sky in level 3.
I am still sleepy though. I had a hard time going to sleep last night. As a result I fell asleep at around midnight and woke up at 11 a.m. I woke up a few times before thinking I should take that medicine, but I ended up falling back asleep due to sleep paralysis. I couldn't make myself get up. So I took the medicine I'm supposed to take at 7 a.m. after 11 a.m. the last couple of days. I hope it still works.
I am making Game Gear games because there's plenty of Game Boy games out there, but not enough Game Gear games. I oddly have more Game Gear games in my collection than Game Boy games. I always thought though that the Game Gear was better since it had color. As a developer who can't draw very well, the color really helps with making my drawings identifiable. The Game Gear can display a maximum of 32 colors at a time: 16 for the sprites and 16 for the background. While not over all impressive, it still is better than the 4 you're limited to on the Game Boy, and they're all shades of black.
