Every possible situation.
I read somewhere a quote about game developers that said something along the lines of to be prepared for every possible situation the player can come up against. I took that to heart. I was working on my Hamburgers Game Gear game for 5 hours because of it. That got me wondering what would happen if a player got hit after shooting the 60th enemy, which would then normally make the burger go up to the boss. I had to fix that. I also had to fix the fact that the enemy's shot should still be on the screen after shooting the 60th enemy, then when it goes off the screen THEN make the burger go up to the boss.
So when that was over, I thought I had messed up the deaths. So I think I changed the deaths. Once the player goes down off screen, instead of just reappearing magically, a new burger will come up from the bottom to take its place. At first I thought it was the same burger, getting ready for more, but then I thought "The name of the game is Flying Hamburgers, plural. I'll make it be a different burger." So even though it looks the same, please think of it as a different burger. Then I went to sleep.
I woke up about 30 minutes ago and checked my game again. I fixed something else. NOW I think I'm ready to begin work on the rest of the game. I am trying to make this the best game I ever made, so I need to think about every situation that can arise and how the game would handle it. Not that I don't on every game I make, but I want to make this extra-special good.
