I wish I was a computer geek

So, I'm trying to make a "hello world" Odyssey 2 program, and keep stumbling roadblock after roadblock with this "Macro Assembler AS" program. Why does everything of this nature have to be in nonsensical gibberish I can't understand? What is AUTOEXEC.BAT? Why does it all have to be in DOS? Why can't they make a Windows version for idiots like myself? I'd really love to make an Odyssey 2 program that all it does is display "Hello World" on the screen and I can't even do that! I wish there was a BASIC program for everything, then making video games would be a lot easier and there would be more of them. Oh well, at least I know how to use Basic anyway.

There is a computer like that: a Mac ;)

AUTOEXEC.BAT contains commands that are run by DOS on start up. It isn't used much these days, but there was a time when installing almost any program required editing this file. Just type "edit autoexec.bat" and you should be able to add the necessary commands.

No you don't - distant family that you never talk to will expect you to drop everything and fix their Windows PC (Piece o' Crap) when you happen to be in town. Most recently, on the last night of my visit for the Spice Family Reunion, my cousin (who hadn't talked to me all week) says "My mom was supposed to tell you to come over to fix my PC".

I gave her a look and thought to myself - no, you're supposed to ask and since you don't know that it's no wonder your kids act the way they do.

'edit' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Hmm - the DOS editor doesn't seem to be installed on your machine for some reason. I guess you will have to edit the file using Windows notepad instead.
