   In May, 1988 Orion Micro Systems, the company owned by Keith Ledbetter and Chris King, released BBS Express Professional (commonly known as BBS Express Pro!). BBS Express Pro! is the sequel to Keith Ledbetter's first BBS program, BBS Express!
    
   BBS Express Pro! has many features that were not commonly available in other Atari BBS programs at the time. These features include 32 message bases, 32 file SIG areas with deescriptions, 32 command secutiry levels, 256 user security flags, up to 516,128 files online for download, full online user editor, event schedule (run upt o 30 events automatically), ExpressNET message base networking, Userlog exporting to a disk file (or printer), online Dos Shell, and the ability for users to create their own BBS modules (or doors).
    
   BBS Express Pro! requires an Atari 800XL or 130XE, SpartaDos 3.2, and a Hayes compatible modem connected to either an ICD MIO, ICD P:R: Connection, or an Atari 850 interface. A hard drive (or large ramdisk) is recommended and an ICD Rtime-8 cartridge is optional. 
    
   BBS Express Pro! retailed at $49.95 plus $4.00 shipping in 1988.

   BBS: The Documentary was released in May 2005. Produced by Jason Scott, this 3-DVD documentary set contains many stories of the BBS era, including interviews with pioneers like Ward Christensen and Randy Suess. It explores the experience of being a SysOp, Fidonet, the underground hacking scene, the art scene, the BBS industry in the 1990s, and the rise of the Internet that led to the decline of the BBS.
   This documentary predates the BBS Renaissance we’re experiencing today, so that aspect isn’t covered. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic watch that captures the rich history of BBSing. A must-see for anyone who was—or still is—into the hobby.
