BillC
Hello AtariGeezer, So this ebay number , this hardware connect to PBI port on 600XL and 800XL only ? The ribbon cable is 40 conductor, I think that it plugs into the CPU socket Found information on Atarimax which confirms this: http://www.atarimax.com/freenet/freenet_material/5.8-BitComputersSupportArea/10.ProductReviews/showarticle.php?
Roydea6
The Turbo816 is a 65816 microprocessor that runs at the normal clock speedof the computer. It's meant to be installed in a XL/XE machine, and comeswith a replacement OS. The card measures about 3.5x7", roughly the sizeof two 3.5" disks end to end. On end is a 40 pin ribbon cable which plugsinto the 6502 socket on the motherboard. On the end is a 50 pin connectorfor attaching Turbo-BUS cards, like SRAM memory, PROM application cards, hardware interface cards, blah blah. Tickled_Pink
And $54 already. With Lotharek working on an 65816 upgrade, which I can see being cheaper than this item, I can only imagine that people are interested in it for its legendary status and rarity.
Kyle22
David_P, If I remember correctly, the chip on the underside of the Sweet-16 is a GAL type chip, possibly a 22v10. Because of an 'oops' in board layout (that we discovered after the boards were made), that GAL is mounted UPSIDE DOWN with the PINS BENT OVER. Please observe CAUTION if you try to remove and read the GAL, you will most likely blow it if you put it in your device programmer as is. The security fuse is probably blown, but maybe not all of them got done. It was fairly simple logic in there, basically, the 'extra' logic on an old 400/800 CPU board, plus a little tweaking the timing through multiple gates to get it 'just right'. -K
+Larry
Here's a question for you hardware types -- in the approximate center of the board, there are two additional spots for (looks like) 20-pin narrow IC's. These have diagonal jumpers across the pins. Any idea/speculation what this might be for? Got a feeling this baby will go for big $$$. -Larry

I agree, from the pattern of jumpers, it looks like 74LS244 or 245. -K
