Ze_ro
Important Note: This weeks competition is over and no further scores will be accepted. Fall Down pits the ever opposed forces of RED and BLUE against each other in a frantic battle to capture scrolling platforms! The first player to fall past a platform captures it and scores a point. Taking time to collect power-ups can give some advantage, but taking too long only results in death at the top of the state. Watch out, because the longer you survive, the faster the platforms move... Hints and Tips The ManualAs always, you really should read the manual. Unfortunately, I was not able to find an online copy of this manual. I happen to own it though, so here are the hints it provides (even though none of them are really useful in Game 6): Especially against the AI, a useful tactic is to run into your opponent repeatedly, preventing him from moving forward. If you do this with a hole behind you, you can drop into it just as the platform is scrolling off the screen, forcing the other player into a tight situation. While your opponent is falling, stand directly beneath him and jump up. This will make him bounce high into the air, giving you plenty of time to capture the next platform. The swap ability (4 power-up blocks) is one of the most useful against a tough opponent. If you time it perfectly , you can make the other player die immediately after trading places. When wrap-around edges are enabled, always check if you can use the edge to travel a shorter path to a hole. The AI uses this tactic to good effect. In Invisibility Mode, just because your player has become concealed by the background color, it doesn't have to stay that way. A well deployed power-up may have an illuminating side effect. aftermacToday, I decided to try a different strategy. Instead of trying to use speed bursts at 120 and above, I decided to try teleporting and cutting holes in the floor. The trick is anticipating when you'll need them. On the faster levels the speed bursts are not enough to get you through some tough spots. Deteacher's score is AMAZING considering that he just used speed bursts. The man has skill. For this game I had ~130 points and 4 power-ups. Just before I was about to pick up another one I hit the button to activate the teleporter. You have to keep moving and falling through holes while waiting to teleport. This got me to a fairly easy stretch and I was able to pick up another power-up. I have 2 now and ~140 points. As I'm falling from the middle of one platform to another with an opening at an end, I pressed the button again, to cut a hole in the next platform while I'm still in mid-air. This got me to another easy stretch where the holes in 5 or 6 consecutive platforms lined up. Very lucky! --Zero
StanJr
I'll be out this week, I don't own the game and hate emulation as a means of playing a game competitively, since I'm not good at using the keyboard in absence of a good joystick or that thingy that lets you use a VCS stick on an emu. Have fun kids, see you next week.
theking21083
96 was my first score.
aftermac
100 This game is kind of addictive. Stan, using the keyboard isn't too bad for this game. I haven't plugged my gamepad or "adapter thingy" in yet. As far as I can tell, the only in game controls are left and right.
