Ze_ro
Important Note: This weeks competition is over and no further scores will be accepted. Welcome to the first ever High Score Club Variety Pack! Rules for this competition are a little different, so please read: This competition combines four games over a two week period. The deadline for posting scores is Wednesday September 15th at 1:00 AM (Central Time, UTC-6). Scores for each game will be listed separately, with reduced scoring awarded for each game (5 points for first place, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th, and 1 for all other scores). Scores are also combined for a final ranking, with Combined Score = (Kaboom Score x 20) + (Squeeze Box Score x 10) + (Atlantis Score) + (Astroblast Score x 5). These scores will then be ranked and scored as per normal High Score Club rules (11 points for 1st place, etc). This means you could score up to 31 points if you post the #1 score for all four games. Alternatively, even if your scores are low, you can get 5 points just for participating. You do not have to play the games in any specific order, and you can submit updated scores for each game separately. You do not have to play all four games. If you leave out one game, you will still be counted in the final ranking as if you had scored 0 for that game. Scores for individual games will still be capped at the point where the score rolls over. No additional capping will occur for combined scores though (For example, if you can max out the score on Astroblast, it will still count for 5 x 999,990 = 4,999,950 points in the combined total). For this competition, there will be no bonus challenges, and no points awarded for best tips (don't worry, they'll come back next time!) Game Information Game Name: Kaboom! Miss 2600
Here's my best score so far for Kaboom! Not very good, I know. If anyone can get a shot of the bomber with a surprised face after hitting 10,000 points, could you post it? pis
Unfortuently atlantis is the only game i own of these four. I guess it would be a good idea for me to by a stella adaptor. 462.
keilbaca
I don't know how you all post good scores on Atlantis. Its one game I never was good at. Kaboom! however.... :D Time to get back into the HSC. I'll hook up the atari in the gameroom and go nuts tonight. I think I'm home this weekend, so it'll be a nice time to catch up. Animan
Darn, I am only missing Squeeze Box out of these 4. At least emulators are allowed .

oyamafamily
Ze_ro, There's a Special Rule for the game "Astroblast", which I am suggesting to use for this HSC contest: "The recorded score will be the PEAK SCORE (which is showed after losing your last life)." I will use Twin Galaxies specific rules to submit my scores on Astroblast. SPECIAL NOTE FOR ASTROBLAST: This game uses ATARI PADDLES and ATARI JOYSTICK. The maximum number of lives is 99. Zoyx
2708 on Kaboom. Helpful hint, use a smaller TV/monitor for Kaboom. The more of the screen you can get into your direct vision, the better. Plant your eyes in the center of the screen, and don't move them. Also use paddles without jitter. The above score was done on a 37" lcd. I plan on digging out my 13" CRT TV just for Kaboom. Zoyx
If anyone can get a shot of the bomber with a surprised face after hitting 10,000 points, could you post it? My score with pic from the last time Kaboom was on HSC. I was a mere child of 44 years old when I did that score. Curious to see what I can do at 46. Edit : A better pic. Jifremok
Some first attempts. I'm liking the variety pack concept. Kaboom - 3219 The killer app that made me go buy an Atari and paddles. Or maybe the paddles themselves were the reason. Squeeze Box - 3910 Bah, gotta play this strange game on emulator. Atlantis - 208520 I have this game, but I HATE the way Imagic carts "fit" into my 7800 cart slot. This one's getting emulated. Astroblast - somewhere in the 6k range...but I forgot to check the difficulty. Wrong switch setting! Yuck. True score is 1120 after a sound ass-whomping in a vastly different (and MUCH more fun) game. I'll have to get a cart of this to play with paddles. zylon
Kaboom! 12,642 and yet another happy face.
Pioneer4x4
Who has the definitive fix for Paddle jitter? Simple, very quickly just spin them back and forth hundreds of times. It works like a charm. Or use contact cleaner.
pis
Atlantis: 2.117.110 The pics are taken before the score rolled the first and second time, and of the final score. After i quit playing at 2mill i had so many extracities that the game played by it self scoring 117000! The last didgit in the score indicates the number of times you rolled the score, but strange enough it disaperes in the final score. I will probably never play this game again!!! keilbaca
I really need to learn Atlantis. Last night was the first night that I broke 100k, so I was pretty happy with that.

Scrabbler15
Squeezebox - 10,390 Astroblast - 2925 That Astroblast Right Difficulty A/Expert/Quick-Death setting makes it very hard to build a score. I spend most of time in the land of zero. Edited September 2, 2010 by Scrabbler15
zylon
My right diff switch is always on A. I know it is since player 2 always has small paddles on Kaboom. It's stuck there and I haven't felt like fixing it yet. Might have to soon since I'm having color and video glitches regularly, especially on Atlantis. Rapid stop and start of motion. Kaboom! 13,749 Atlantis 30,600 Squeezebox 6,580 I've retracted the Astroblast score since I've learned that my diff switch works intermittently. I've tried it on my machine at work and gameplay was far different. Edited September 3, 2010 by zylon
