Intellivision Ebay Roundup

Recommended Posts

VGA does use an RGB color space but it typically scans over 31kHz.  The Intellivision video is about 15kHz.  And as charonpdx points out, vga typically has separate horizontal and vertical sync signals on two pins.  RGB mods usually send a composite sync on one wire.

Be careful - red/green/blue RCA jacks on US TVs tend to be Y/Pb/Pr component video, not RGB. (In spite of using red/green/blue plugs.) Y/Pb/Pr is *NOT* compatible with RGB, and would require conversion. The VGA port, on the other hand, can usually accept RGB with a simple cable. Usually, but not always - some VGA inputs don't accept NTSC RGB timings, or require the separate sync signal that actual computer VGA provides.

Yeah it's odd. When I pull up the input menu on the TV, it lists the following options: TV, AV, Component, RGB, and HDMI. Maybe they intended the RGB port to be used along with a computer.

Thanks for that additional clarification!

I think I’ve seen them before. I don’t have details, but I think they’re awfully nice.

I have seen them for other systems I believe.. I cannot remember if I have seen them for Intellivision... a collector friend of mine thinks he has seen them...

They make several different kinds. I have 3 of the blue and had 1 brown. The brown has since been sold but the 3 blue are still available.
