gulag picture radio
Sometimes the "microphone" is just a hole in the back (or sometimes it's just inside the cabinet) - not like a handheld microphone or anything. If you turn the sensitivity down you can just tap on the case until you find it. Yeah, "color organ" is just the generic name for these blinky blinky lights. You could find them on jukeboxes, standalone units like yours (we had like three of them when I was in a band), and sometimes it would look like a power strip that you just plugged various lamps into. A friend of mine has track lighting that he converted into a color organ. It's nuts at parties. Okay - so there's my expertis on the color organ, okay? Mr_8bit_16bit
Well, firmly seated in the "meh" catagory: Mission Impossible and Jet Force Gemini for the N64.. hey, they were only $3.00 each!
video game addict
I found a fairly large lot of boxed Intelly games today. Too bad it wasn't Atari. But I take what I can get
gulag picture radio
That's a super Intelly lot! Do you mind telling us how much it all cost? I'm hoping it was one of those classic history-making deals... like you got it all for $7.50 or something!
video game addict
I paid $45 for them all I wish it had been $7 lol He started out asking $5 each, and then told me that he let someone ebay a few already, and that a few more were sold at the flea. I figured as long as I kept them under $2 each I would buy. I think all are complete, although a few might only have 1 overlay. First time ever finding a System changer. Too bad I sold the Intellivision I found a couple months back already Besides for Vectron, Zaxxon, & Royal Dealer, I believe I've found all the others boxed before. But I sold off all my Intelly games & systems couple years ago. I see alot of boxed Intelly stuff around here. It gets kind of depressing going out & not finding any thing Atari or anything worth buying.. Sometimes have to come home with boxes of stuff I don't collect just to make myself happy. These are all available for trade for items in my porn link below
madmjennifer
I also buy viewmasters whenever I can, especially the old ones of tourist attractions, landmarks, science, etc. . I collect these too! Did you know they still make reels of tourist attractions and stuff like that? There's websites that sell them along with all the cartoons and other stuff like what's sold in stores. You're lucky to find reels in thrifts. I've never found any except for bent up recent reels.
gulag picture radio
I collect these too! Did you know they still make reels of tourist attractions and stuff like that? There's websites that sell them along with all the cartoons and other stuff like what's sold in stores. You're lucky to find reels in thrifts. I've never found any except for bent up recent reels. I've been really lucky lately to have found the antique reels. I did just get a big pile of reels that are the recent drek, but it was only 99 cents so no biggie. I dislike that so many of the recent reels (even the ones of live action subjects) aren't true stereo photos, but manipulated later to look like a stack of cardboard cutouts. The old ones are the finest. In years past, I've been lucky enough to find boxes full of several reels from peoples travels. A friend of mine had inherited his grandparents' collection consisting of hundreds of reels from all the places they roadtripped to in the 50's. There are even some educational ones from years ago. There is an anatomy book that came with nearly 100 reels of body parts for you to examine. Yechhhh. The current Viewmaster "scene" is surprisingly good. Not too long ago I found the special camera and film cutter that lets you create viewmaster reels of your own. What sucks is that they just stopped making blank reels very recently, so until someone figures out a way to make them again I'm anxiously awaiting the chance to create my own reels. I've seen the websites of the guys who shoot viewmaster material today of tourist stuff, landscapes, etc. Their cameras are very impressive and modern adn the results that they get are stunning. I also found a "Realist" camera at a thrift which is another type of 3D camera from the 50's. The pictures are full sized slides, so the resolution is amazing. I need to find someone who can clean it for me so I can start using it to create my own stuff. Too bad that for both Viewmaster and Realist the special projectors (so you can show stuff in 3D to a crowd wearing the special glasses) are each about $400. It's going to be a long time before I'm able to share 3D photography with a room full of people. Did you ever see the show "Wonderfalls"? It's an awesome show that only ran 4 episodes on Fox (dummies). The whole 13 eps are on DVD now, and they use Viewmasters in the intro and as a transitional device in the show itself. Brilliant stuff. I'll have to make a list of my reels and set up some trades with folks![/b]

Bruce Tomlin
Not all that great this weekend, but I did increase my NES count a little bit. Sega Genesis/Game Gear cleaning kit, $4 Four NES games $5 each (okay, so I splurged a bit): Bucky O'Hare, Castlequest, Stanley the search for Livingston, and Star Trek 25th Anniversary (which I probably would have passed on except I already had the instructions to it) SNES Ren & Stimpy Fire Dogs, $
shep
I've been home this weekend and saw a thrift store that just opened, but didn't have time to go in...it figures, I go away to school and we finally get a thrift store...they better have a lot of gaming stuff this summer and the next time I visit home! SteveW
Well, if the thrift store's new, you need to get in there early and make a backroom deal with the owners, to get the first look at their game stuff, before it gets put out!
Wester
Picked up at SA. NES- Bible Adventures (Blue case) $2.00 Wrecking Crew $2.00 Bag of 2 standard controllers, 1 NES Max controller, 1 Power adapter, 1 Port for wireless controller. $2.00 O/T Also got a box of 7 Teddy Ruxpin cassette tapes one still new for $1 total. These are going on Ebay as I type.
SteveW
Bought a Sega limited edition blue Dreamcast controller, $4.94. And got an N64 joypad that's pretty nice. It's one of those that breaks from the standard N64 gamepad configuration, and puts both the D-pad and analog stick on the left, with the trigger button underneath. It's far more ergonomic than the standard joypad, so now I can finally play N64 games without struggling against the stupid controller! RickHarrisMaine
Game systems are few and far between at Maine's thrift stores, but today, while dropping off a bag of toys at Goodwill, I was able to pickup a complete, working, Sega Genesis for $7.95! vb_master
Revenge of the Beefstake Tomatoes (Atari 2600) - $7 R.C. Pro Am (NES) - $5 Unreal II: The Awaking - $10 No Neo Geo Pocket Color games!!!
SteveW
I went out to the flea market again today. I only found Doom for the PS1 in the longbox, $6. And a still shrinkwrapped, new copy of H. R. Giger's Darkseed II for the Mac, $2. I think I'm going out to the area flea market a little too often. I'm barely finding anything out there anymore. I need to lay off a little, let them build some more classic gaming stuff up.
+FujiSkunk
This last weekend was a busy one at the thrift stores. Not only did I find lots of stuff to buy, I was taught a lesson. At one thrift store, I discovered more than 30 Atari 2600 cartridges. They were almost all commons, and I already owned all except one, but I still brought the whole box up to the cash register, hoping I'd get a price for the whole shebang. No dice; they wanted $2 a pop. I offered $0.50 each, which in my mind was pretty generous for a box full of the likes of Combat and Asteroids. They countered with $1 each. I couldn't do that either, so I ended up buying only two. For a while I was kind of peeved at the "high" price, but after I thought about it, I realized it was good to leave those other carts behind. After all, somebody out there would probably be happy paying $1 or $2 each for games they didn't yet have, and this thrift store does support a worthy cause, a local battered women's shelter. So, just this once, I decided I should hold my greed in check. Besides, I did leave with a Squeeze Box for $1.50, the first new cartridge for my collection in well over a year. I'm also starting to worry about the local Goodwill. This makes three weekends in a row that I've found something not only worth looking at, but also worth buying at the price they were charging. If this keeps up, I just might start respecting them again! This time it was a Nintendo Entertainment System Action Set, complete with its original box and accessories, for $20, and a boxed set of Atari 2600 keyboard controllers for $5. Naturally, Goodwill was overly generous with the tape, but it came off the NES box without a single rip, and the damage to the keyboard box was relatively minimal. As a bonus, I even found one of the overlays for Basic Programming in the box.
gulag picture radio
Nice scores! I don't know if you're doing this already, but sometimes the overabundance of tape on thrift store stuff can come off by using a heat gun or blow dryer. Squeeze Box is a great game - well done! Rockin' Kat
It's been a while since I've posted any finds so I thought I'd post my most recent finds at good will for the past two weeks. Parker Bros. Q*Bert board game for $1.09 almost complete.. only missing a dice secret roll cup. All the game peices are accounted for. Box has packing tape on it. All games listed were $1.99 each: NES games: SuperMario Bros. 3 Track and Feild II Top Gun Ikari Warriors Pinball Rush'n Attack R.C. Pro-AM Mach Rider Tetris R.C. Pro-AM again Slalom Ninja Gaiden Side Pocket Captain Skyhawk Genesis: Mortal Kombat II Mortal Kombat 3 Super Monaco GP 32X: Star Wars Arcade Mortal Kombat II SNES: Pilotwings one controller
SteveW
I managed to do a little thrifting before work. Bought Toy Commander and 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker for the Dreamcast, $4.98. Wings of Wor and G-Loc Air Battle for the Sega Genesis, boxed and looking like new, $4.94. And oddly enough, I've finally found Atari 2600 games in a thrift! In two different thrifts, on the same day! That never happens around here. Too bad they were all dirt commons. I'm not a label variation kind of guy, so I just left most of them there, except for Gangster Alley, the only non-Atari or Sears game there. $1.98. I passed on a Sega Master System, without the box but still in it's styrofoam tray, for $24.95. All the hardware seemed to be there, except the game(s) and, from some of the empty holes in the tray, the 3D shutter glasses. If the glasses were with it, I would have snapped it up immediately. SteveW
Oh, I also forgot to mention, that I also found an Intellivision II replacement controller for $1.91. The thrift that I found it in seems to have a history of separating the controllers from the consoles and selling them separately. People tend to not want to do that, so they leave some controllers behind. That's why I found an Atari Jaguar controller and a boxed AvP, but no console. The controllers are left there, to taunt me on what cool stuff I missed out on.

dalton4life
I just posted this in modern gaming but I've found Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for PS2 twice in pawn shops for $10 and $5 each. I also got a perfect set of 2600 paddles for $3 in a thrift store. And I found 2 Pelican PS2 Arcade Sticks in boxes at a flea market for $10 for the pair. Another nice find was 6 various video game magazines from 1995, a Resident Evil Code Veronica strategy guide, A Final Fantasy X strategy guide and Arc The Lad - Twilight Spirts strategy guide all for $2! gulag picture radio
Not a thrift find exactly, but Toys R Us seems to be blowing out old games for 90 percent off. I got two PS games (Street Racqetball and Fishing) for a buck each, a bunch of GB e-reader cards for like a dime a pack, and they had a load of Dreamcast games (NFL & NBA) games for a buck, strategy guides... I even got some games for that mini-Pokemon handheld for about a buck a piece.
