VectorGamer
Independence Day Tournament: 1976-1985 This will be a 10 game tournament consisting of one title per year starting 1976 and ending 1985. Nominate a list of 10 titles: one from each year beginning 1976 and ending 1985. List these titles in order of preference, highest to lowest. This will allow me to flesh out the tournament (if need be) in a timely manner by going through each player's nominee list in turn and selecting the highest priority title from that respective player's list. Example (and please try to follow this format when listing nominees) using titles from last season's Independence Day Tournament: 1982: Pepper II 1980: Star Castle 1979: Astro Fighter 1981: Lady Bug 1976: Sea Wolf 1983: Pole Position II 1984: 1942 1977: Canyon Bomber 1978: Space Invaders 1985: Dig Dug II In this example, if the tournament field did not fulfill the ten game requirement, my nomination of Pepper II would be selected for my turn in the selection process. Games will be added to the tournament based on the total number of nominations beginning highest to lowest. Nomination tiebreakers: If a game has not been played previously in the history of the AtariAge Arcade/MAME HSC, that game will be chosen. If there are multiple titles that have been played previously in the history of the AtariAge Arcade/MAME HSC, then the most recently played title will be discarded. If ten games have not been selected by 3AM EDT on Sunday, July 3, games will be selected from their list of nominations in the following order: HSC Season 2 Champion (roadrunner) HSC Season 3 Standings as of one week from tournament start date from highest to lowest by only those that have posted nominations In case of a "wrap around," the selections will return back to the top of the current season standings Since this is the last tournament of the season, no games will be added to the player queue. Competition begins Sunday, July 3 @ noon EDT and ends Monday, July 18 @ 3AM EDT Games in this tournament: 1976: Night Driver (3) 1977: Guided Missile (roadrunner) 1978: Avalanche (2) 1979: Asteroids (3) 1980: Battlezone (roadrunner) 1981: Cosmic Avenger (rmaerz) 1982: BurgerTime (2) 1983: Roc N Rope (2) 1984: Kung-Fu Master (2) 1985: City Connection (patbb) Tournament FINAL Standings 1. 164 Cynicaster 2. 135 patbb 3. 101 rmaerz 4. 98 roadrunner 5. 97 LarcenTyler 6. 77 M.A.M.E. VectorGamer
The field is set...I'll flesh out the rest of the info later. For now you have the ROM sets and dip switch settings to get started. Seems like player availability is starting to drop off big time this time of year... I wouldn't be opposed to starting next season with the Labor Day Tournament and concluding with the Flag Day Craptacular. I added this as a proposed change in the rules for season 4 thread. It's important to weigh in if you oppose this proposal. If there is no opposition then it is assumed that players are good with this. M.A.M.E Offender
Cosmic Avenger 4,100 Kung Fu Master 18,800 2 tough games. Kung Fu isn't all that tough. The first boss that waves that stick at you is a piece of cake. The trick is to go as close as you can to him as you can. He will not be able to strike you. then you duck punch him till he flies off the floor. The second boss is going to be chucking boomarangs at you. If he throws high, duck. If he throws low, jump. As soon as the boomarang zips past you, go at him and punch him out. The third boss is easy, don't be intimidated by his size. Approach him with a jump kick. Then duck punch him in the belly. He'll be history in no time. The fourth boss is tough. He flings projectiles at you. The idea here is to get him to the far right of the screen. Kicks will not affect him, so don't waste your time. Punches only. If you survive long enough to get him to the far right, swing at him as soon as he gets ready to fling his projectile. A couple few punches and he's gone. The fifth boss will have you giving him a series of high kicks, then low, then high, then low. Continue until he is dead. And voila, Silvia is all yours, for a couple of seconds anyway!!
