I always loved the short lived Nintendo Fun Club.

On a side note, is anyone homebrewing an alternate controller for the 7800? I'm dying with the standard controllers.

I know a guy aruond here can mod NES controllers to work on 7800 - but I'd like something a little more "authentic atari"

Well there is going to be a controller release with this 3200 and I believe that was going to be finished before the console. I'm working on making custom controllers for the 5200 and the 7800 out of arcade parts and other various parts (Mostly for the 5200, the 7800 is more straight forward).

Aww, what's more authentic than half-working controllers with rattle-y bits inside?

. . . . this is a trick question right?

Why do we need a magazine when we have Atari Age?

That's assuming this is a product sold solely to AtariAgers.

I actually like getting a magazine...

I am of course assuming that we are talking about an actual print mag.

Print or Digital would be fine be me, though a print magazine would be fantastic!

Until this new console is released, look for the European 7800 controllers. They used to be easily found on eBay, though it's been a while since I went looking for them.

Also remember that several 7800 games can be played with a single-button 2600 controller.

  • 2 weeks later...

It has been just a month and a half since the thread first started, guys. And I assume the XM accessory has priority for now, so I imagine this is going to stay in the conceptual stage until that project is finished up.

Curt - You listed everything that I've always wanted in a re-release (once you mentioned VGA).

I love that this will be featuring homebrews and the idea of a mag is a nice way to connect the "scene."

I'm a sucker who works for a living and buys up this stuff even when its not a good idea financially. You've got my attention and I'll be saving up for this doo dah and keeping my eye on this thread with anticipation.

My guess for the company involved

Intellivision Productions - perhaps a little confusing but they carry some real retro clout.
