I should have ordered this when I had the chance.  I had the opportunity on 2 of the releases.  If they do another one I am definitely down for it!

I know someone just a few months before this last run spent $400 on eBay for a copy. The demand for software of this calibre on the Jag is considerable. The demand outstripping supply in this case.

If this game hadn't been released in 200 batch pulses over the years it probably would have hit the projected 600+ sales numbers in the first couple years.

Demand does not equal copies sold.  Would have thought that was obvious.

I think that the demand was so high for the 3rd run because of the of prices copies from previous runs had on eBay.

Let's face it, there is a lot people trying to make profit by selling retro gaming stuff at high prices.

Look for example on the Jaguar GD robberies once in a while on eBay.

Probably a similar situation may occur if a new run of Battlesphere was announced? Some of the buyers might not even have a Jaguar console to play these games on?

True, but with a few of the titles I'd say the ones who can't play them are the lucky few :)

A lot of ratuonales on why some things sell better than others. Possible reasons I seem to hear

- Smoke and mirrors. What you see isn't what you think you see. Mostly people without Jaguars are buying these particular titles for some reason en masse for conversation pieces.

- Mostly people without Jaguars are buying these particular titles for some reason to scalp to those with Jaguars. They would still need demand for the scalping.

Could there possibly be a third reason being overlooked?

What does the deluxe version include? Never seen it...

Deluxe version got those beautiful remastered graphics, but there's also Classic Mode (maybe Atari ST version?) and Speedy Mode (with both Classic & Deluxe).

Here is link to nice article:

The polygons of Another World: Atari Jaguar (fabiensanglard.net)

Nice version, but these Ebay prices are just insane these days.

I think what Machine is saying is there aren't multiple physical versions of the Another World cart for the Jaguar. There's no "standard" vs "deluxe" edition to purchase. Just different game modes as you've pointed out.

Yes of course. My mistake.. Sorry! I'm always late with these Jaguar releases😂

How much are these going for these days? I might have a brand new one I’m willing to part with

$349 for the cheapest (used) Jaguar cartridge with box.

$799 for a brand new Jaguar cartridge with box.

$10 for the same game re-released on DVD for the PC

So... quick question about something that was mentioned earlier in this thread. Someone said there was a "Deluxe" version, to which @madman corrected there was not.

It's been a while since I've loaded it up, but I don't remember a different set of graphics or the ability to play "different" versions of the game. It seemed to me, the "Another World" I have for the Jaguar is exactly the same as the PC version I had back in the early 90s... which still had the VGA graphics and Sound Blaster sound. Was the second release of the game enhanced over the first (original) release on the Jaguar?

According to Wikipedia:

The game engine was rewritten especially for the Atari Jaguar to make use of the console's several processors: the GPU and blitter perform polygon rendering; the GPU performs on-the-fly data decompression; the DSP plays stereo music and sound effects; and the 68000 CPU performs JIT compilation and execution of the scripts. The Jaguar version is playable in the original graphics 16-color mode and Deluxe 15th Anniversary graphics 256-color mode. It can be played in normal and speed-run modes.

AFAIK the ROM hasn't changed, you select versions the same place you select language and such, seen here:

I think you confuse Another World with Flashback.

There was no 90s port of AW for the Jaguar, and surely no ROM.

Except there was a ST port, but I dont know of any.

The Jaguar version was released 2012 first run and uses the enhanced backgrounds of the PC re-release of 2011 (?).

Seb got the exclusive permission from the original creator of AW to port it to Jaguar.

I think he meant it appeared to him to be the same as the PC version of Another World which is the one he had in the 90's. Not he had the Jaguar version in the 90's.

Ok, I think you might be misunderstanding me.

Back in the early 1990s, I had Another World for the PC... and it was awesome (with Sound Blaster and VGA sound, which was better than the Atari ST, etc.).

In 2010+, I bought the original release of Another World for the Atari Jaguar... which had the same graphics as the original I played on the PC, which were fantastic.

Question: there was a second release of Another World on the Atari Jaguar, which I did not purchase. There seems to be a discussion above (in this thread) that you could switch between different versions of the game. The copy of Another World I have for the Atari Jaguar does not have such feature, and so I was wondering if this was a new feature of the second-release.

Thanks!
