+therealbountybob Posted September 27, 2013 Share Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) EVERYONE WELCOME TO JOIN IN THE FUN After a gruelling week off for HSC players and a deadlock in the voting yes it's time to "Heat the Joy" in the inaugural HSC MEGA SPACE BLASTATHON! The best game never played in the HSC??? hands down it's Aquatron perhaps as good a game as Dropzone or Defender!; there I said it I decided the top part qualifies it as a space game plus 10 short sharp shooters to have a blast at, I saved the other scrollers for a future round as we have enough to play. I've picked a few great games long overdue a HSC play such as Juno First & Buck Rogers, a few unknowns, plus one that might be bad! Astro Droid didn't run on NTSC This is an extended round finishing Sunday 20th October 10pm UK time The games Disk 1 HSC10R16-SpaceMegaBlastathon-Disk1.ATR NEW Disk 2 NEW HSC10R16-SpaceMegaBlastathon-Disk2.ATR or download them from Fandal, atarionline.pl, or atarimania Scoring will be complex (for me) but you just play the games and post your scores! Tournament Points: Each game will score 10pts for 1st place, 8pts for 2nd place, 6pts for 3rd place, 5pts for 4th&5th places, 4pts for 6th&7th places, 3pts for 8th&9th places, 2pts for 10th Aquatron being the main game scores double points For an added twist players will be handicapped by the number of rounds they have won this season so I start on -6pts. If Scalak plays he will also start on -6pts just to be fair Bonuses 2pts for the player with the most wins 3pts for the highest combined total points score for all games (might need to tweak this a bit), 2pts 2nd, 1pt third HSC Points: at the end of the round Tournament Points will be converted to valuable HSC points with a whacking 25pts for first place, 20pts for 2nd, 18 for 3rd, 16 for 4th then down in 1s. Aquatron will count for a win and the tournament (including aquatron) will also count for a win. 1pt bonus for beating iratanam's Buck Rogers HSC record of 248,604 Setttings / Controls NO autofire (unless you cannot play otherwise) Play each game on the default level / settings, apart from NEW Space Ace press [select][/f3] to play on Advanced and press [option][/f4] to turn the extra lives off (no blue ship) press 5 to limit the game to 5 minutes Demon Attack Top players play on level 3 (guided shots) The only game you will have trouble figuring out is Yar's Strike but we will come to that [future edit!] ok to complete a level you need to (1) shoot a hole through the defence barrior on the right, (2) touch the ship and then (3) a square appears on the left, hit fire to launch this to kill Yar (or perhaps are you Yar?? in which case kill the other dude!) Summary of each players scores will we welcome and remember there is a total score bonus too Space Ace was the one I was concerned about - I have an old copy(?) without the title screen choices and it is way too easy, but hoping advanced and 9mins will be ok. Not sure what toggling the blue ship on off does - perhaps extra man or not? Ok I've had a small session just to "warm the joy" c'mon Scalak lets battle it out Juno First 66,300 Aquatron 13,510 rust but already loving this again - You can hyperboost by holding diagonal up folks but remember to slow down again before diving! Was going to mention it was PAL only just now but I see that's been assessed. Interesting game if not exactly fair.
