jzintv issues with larger games

Recommended Posts

I'm having some issues with jzintv, and I'm not sure if these are known issues, or if there are solutions available for the user...

I have pretty much all the standard ROMs available to try. The ones listed below don't work for me. Either I get a blank screen, or the program quits on me (1.0 beta 4, on Win7-32). All of the games under 16K work, and most of the 32K+ games don't work.

Any help is appreciated!

All of the games work for me with the exceptions:

Congo Bongo

Centipede

Defender

Pac-Man (both Atarisoft and Intv copies)

WSMLB - although I had problems with this one before and re-dumped it and it worked. Now it doesn't again.

However, all of these same games work fine on my Cuttle Cart.

I'm using strictly *.bin files from theoldcomputer.com.

edit: no *.cfg (or *.rom) files.

That's your problem. The BIN is the raw binary of the game, but it doesn't include information of where is located each chunk of code/data.

The CFG file contains the required info.

A ROM extension file is a mixture of BIN and CFG data, so you don't need additional files.

Thanks nano and GB!

A quick search for "Intellivision cfg files" brought up this:

This should help in my understanding of how the memory mapping is known for each game.

I've attached the copied and renamed cfg files required for anyone who wants to use the downloads from theoldcomputer.com.

I only tested them for a few seconds each. Most of them work, but a couple don't. Maybe the wrong cfg file was chosen. Oh well.
