A budget title that sort of combines pinball and football and adds in a load of demon spectators. It could only be time for Ballistix!

Is this a pig in makeup or is there a gem of a game in there?

Please share, like, wear the T shirt and shout from the rooftops to let your Amiga and retro gaming pals know about us. That would be much appreciated. ?

Good episode.  Was a little surprised the fellas killed it as much as they did, but, hey, that is why the do the reviews, no?

Time for Aaron and Boat to check out another Amiga platformer. There's lots to collect, a dodgy weapon mechanic and oh so many colours!

Is that Zippy from Rainbow we see? Why is he there?

This week ARG span the wheel and were tasked with looking at CDTV titles.

The Commodore CDTV looked at home stacked with your VCR and audio equipment. It was basically an Amiga A500 with a CD drive so it SHOULD have been capable of some great games.

This week Aaron and Brent take a look at 2 games you won't have played on a regular Amiga, take a look at their review

Did/do you own a CDTV and what was the best game on the platform? How about Defender of the Crown 2?

A Mario Kart clone on the Amiga? Well, no not really but it tried. Boat and Aaron are looking at the Amiga CD32 version of Bump N Burn this week.

See the full review and this weeks Amiga News here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGdUdXfYQdU&t=3396s

Or forget the visuals and engage your ear holes only here: https://anchor.fm/amigospodcast

Mario Kart used the SNES’s mode 7, Amiga doesn’t have that so this went with a tweaked Lotus style engine, was that the right move?

A good episode.  The game definitely had some good potential, but just had some things that were not in its favor.  Still, a competent enough game in its own right.

It is Amigos time once more and this week let’s take a look at Bill's Tomato Game. You wouldn't normally associate a Tomato with a physics game but it works here!

Good episode.  Definitely enjoying the wide variety of games the boys go over.  Gonna sound like a broken record here, but another game that had a lot of potential but could have been a lot better.  Still, the game does have some play-ability to it that will be someone's bag for sure.

Hi guys, just found your podcast and have been listening to it, fun stuff!  I did want to add to the ST/Amiga comparison podcast which I think missed a few points.  I was running a business from a C64, writing letters was such a pain, heard about the Amiga and went to downtown DC to see it and was wowed!  However, the price was too high to justify and later saw the ST, which was not only more reasonably priced, but had a better-looking video to boot for productivity.  Also, with the 1000, the disk swapping was horrendous and was a deal killer, went with the ST.  Remember, the Amiga was made to be a games machine while the ST was made to be a Mac clone, so both business and games while the 1000 was not as good productivity-wise.  I still find the Amiga OS to be half-ass compared to the ST, maybe more powerful (although finding and using that power is not easy) but not intuitive and too CLI-driven it seems.  Did eventually get a 500 (which I just bought again as well as a 1200) but for gaming only, the ST was still the machine for running my business until the internet forced me to a Mac.  Since getting back into the ST and Amiga, still finding the ST the easier machine to understand and operate, the Amiga just seems to make you need to learn a lot just to get anything done, other than WHDload.  And nice shout out on Sundog, that game is killer and a reason I recently got into retro computers, well the ST and Amiga.

The Atari ST was definitely a very good machine that deserves a lot more love than it gets nowadays.  Hopefully that will change as too often it gets overshadowed by the Amiga and/or other classic computing platforms.  However, I will say that I think the fellas did give the ST a fair shake and showed that it was a system that would have been a good machine to have back in the day as while the Amiga was (very arguably) the better overall machine, even a $200 difference between the two was a great sum of money back then.  Still, all that being said, definitely the ST deserves more credit as it was a very good machine that deserves to shine based on its own merits.

Yes, I think the ST was a machine made to work like the Mac, very intuitive and easy to use and much cheaper than a mac.  The Amiga was a more forward-looking machine, many of the possibilities of today's computers (multitasking, graphics cards, etc.) were introduced with the Amiga.  But now, just as then, I find trying to do any real work on the Amiga non-intuitive, one needs to sit down and study the OS to figure out how to do even simple things whereas the ST, which is a bit more limited OS-wise, one can just pick up and do most of the things without needing to RTFM, know what I mean?  Right now, I am trying to figure out how to change the desktop on my 1200/3.1, I mean, how hard can that be?  Well, pretty frickin' hard as I can't seem to find anyway to do that via the desktop, so I have to look online or real the whole manual to maybe do it.  On the ST?  It's right on the desktop, easy-peasy!

Hide the good plates and make sure the pets are secured away. It is time for the big one, it's Atari ST Vs Amiga 500.

See the full battle here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U3HUs1ZArs

Actually, this doesn't degenerate into the playground fights we knew. It's a civil look at the strengths and weaknesses of both systems.

Which side do you stand with? I'm guessing Amiga going by which group we are in! :)

Hi guys. It's good to see that people can have a proper discussion about two competing systems. At the time it was like Xbox and PS, trying to find points to out do the other team. I was firmly on team Amiga. I never considered the value for money side of things. I just wanted what looked best. I suppose the fact that the people I knew also had Amigas had an influence as it gave us common ground to talk about things and share (ahem) software.

Having never used an ST I can't comment on how easy to use the OS is. However, I never really had any trouble finding stuff in Workbench. All the prefs are grouped together in one place. However, if you are used to one way of doing things it can take a while to get used to a new way.

Glad you enjoyed that show. If you ever want to see our shows being recorded live just follow our Twitch channel (its free).

Everyone is going to have their preferences.  However, too many times people on any versus topic (whether that be 2600 vs. Intellivision, NES vs. SMS, Genesis vs. SNES) put the fanboy/fangirl hat on and don't give the other system a fair shake.  I've been there, too.  That being said, the Atari ST is a machine that was very good in its time and deserves to shine on its own merits.  Sure, it is not an Amiga, but it still was a damn good piece of hardware that a lot of people would have loved to have had back in the day, that's for sure.

An exciting past time or a good walk ruined? Nick Faldo must have thought the former.
See John and Aaron's review of Nick Faldo's Championship Golf : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBg0uHANHj0&t=188s
Or catch the audio version here: https://anchor.fm/amigospodcast
Also covered in this show is an interesting way to get an HDMI output from your Amiga's Denise chip (with a little help from a Raspberry).
