+Vorticon
Amazing work and congratulations on winning the competition!!! I need to make a cart out of this one! It just blows my mind as to what can be done with the TI in the right hands... 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3682779 Share on other sites

Retrospect
Finally a demo for the 99 that shows what it is capable of. Well done. Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3682809 Share on other sites
sparkdrummer
Downloaded onto my nanopeb, worked great! Freaking awesome! Transferred to my main system to run off of myarc 512 ramdisk, didn't like it- wiped out the ramdisk contents. Thought it might be because the ramdisk is at dsr 1000. Loaded onto conventional floppy and tried again - wiped out the disk. I'm betting it's because of my myarc dsqd controller, right? It is using sector I/O in order to pack everything onto a 180K disk, so it's tied to the floppy disk format. But give me a few hours and I will post another version that loads ordinary files. That should work from a RAM disk. Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3682851 Share on other sites

+acadiel
Amazing. Simply amazing. Eat your heart out, C64 The Amiga boing ball was a great touch. Edit: Used the cart version on my F18A system with Comcomp Mini PES and speech. Worked amazingly well. Easter egg: Spacebar skips to the next demo section. Edit 3: I'm bringing this to the VCFSE this Spring. Really. +acadiel
By the way, the demo works well in the v01A 512K cart with Marc Hull's 74LS174 "start in the first bank" mod. If you copy them to the root directory of a RAM drive or hard drive it should work, but it's a lot of files. demo-dsdd.dsk 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3682930 Share on other sites

Great, but the mod should not be required since the image has headers in all banks. It should also work with a red cart or an ubergrom cart. 3 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3682935 Share on other sites

LASooner
Wow! Seems you have quite a pool of routines to choose from to make game types never before seen on the TI. Imagine time traveling with that cartridge. Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3682982 Share on other sites

The sector I/O code should have worked fine from RAMDisk... on top of that, if sector I/O is not available it falls back to normal record access. The issue is somewhere else. :/ (edit) myarc 512 ramdisk Hmm, well, for Horizon anyway. I have to admit I don't know how the Myarc RAMdisk works. Sorry for the trouble though! Omega-TI
I popped this on a 49F040 today and played it through. Very impressive that it's for a stock 9918. This demo did make wonder something though... what an F18A demo would look like? +mizapf
Hmm, well, for Horizon anyway. I have to admit I don't know how the Myarc RAMdisk works. If we're talking about the MEXP-1, here is some code: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/devices/bus/ti99_peb/myarcmem.cpp (really short, 213 lines) 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3683005 Share on other sites

Toucan
How hard would it be to turn some of these into full fledged games? I noticed that Doom was in there (https://youtu.be/ZhSUhE03XFw?t=3m30s). Also, that one with the balls and the scrolling would make a good shooter (https://youtu.be/ZhSUhE03XFw?t=6m42s). 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3683150 Share on other sites
sparkdrummer
Just downloaded the DSDD dsk. Mcopied to my Myarc 512 set as DSK1. Flipped the switch to the 14mhz crystal and it ran GREAT! Very minimal lag when files are being accessed. Thank you again Rasmus, you are a gentleman and a scholar. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3683158 Share on other sites

I burned my copy earlier today too, but had to wait to make the label because I was missing a graphic. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3683167 Share on other sites

A doom style game would be sick!! And that scrolling one I first thought a 3dish version of Rasmus' Bouncy like that would be awesome but a shooter would be great too 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/251995-ti-994a-megademo/page/4/#findComment-3683213 Share on other sites
