Heavy Sixer Serial Number Thread

With it appearing that the Taiwan Heavy Sixer was produced in far less quantities than the Sears or Atari Version, is it more desireable than either of those two? I have an Atari one and a Sears one, I will list the serial numbers shortly!

 

Although the Atari branded units seem to be much more available, they still tend to sell for more than Sears or Taiwan models that I've seen. I've picked up all of the Sears Heavies that I have for about $20 shipped each.

But there seems to be at least one seller making fakes by putting PAL light sixer guts into U.S./NTSC heavy sixer cases with the FCC declaration on the sticker. I don't see how he can possibly profit by doing so, unless PAL heavy sixers sell for much more than their NTSC counterparts.

He never seems to sell them, i sold a genuine one quite easily for £200 plus but it had all the right paperwork and controllers, every time he puts one up for sale i ask about the FCC rules and he hasn't answered yet so he obviously knows what he's selling isn't genuine.

Thing is, it will be a PAL machine, or at least the internals will be, so the description of a PAL Heavy-Sixer is technically correct, therefor any buyer would have no recourse.

 

I think there are a few true PAL units around, but like the one i got a week or so ago they will be sold by people who don't really know what they have and wont be advertised as anything special - mine was merely sold as a Sunnyvale unit. There are enough people keeping their eyes open around here to make sure none slip through the net!

My first thought is that your's isn't a Heavy, based on the model # and the S/N. any chance on a pic? Or perhaps you could compare yours to the known H6er pictures in this thread.

i guess you could say that mine is one of the vader models. its all black. what would it be considered as? a light or something totally different? as you can tell i'm new at this. i always collected for the play wise. i never new that atari was this big until now. its amazing, and i remember when they came out. so are you mainly talking about the "woody" systems?

This first run was made in Sunnyvale CA (which the S/N sticker will show as the manufacturing location) it's most noticeable characteristic is that the bottom plastic of the unit is very thick and is curved at the corners instead of angled. I'll post a pic of a light sixer and Heavy Sixer together if I can find them. Maybe I'll add this to the list to help keep things clearer.

All "CX-2600 A" models are "4-switch" systems (4 metal slide switch handles on the front "dashboard").

 

A "CX-2600 A" without the woodgrain front panel is popularly known as the "Vader" model. It is not a "Light Sixer" or a "Heavy Sixer"; both of those get their names in part from having 6 metal slide switch handles on the "dashboard" panel.

 

All "Sixer" models have a woodgrain front panel, but the 4-switch version with woodgrain is the one most commonly referred to as the "Woody" model.

Dunno what it means, but there's a piece of paper taped to the bottom of the board, it says:

 

99 12400019. #

 

And there's a sticker on the RF shielding that says: 187305

 

There was another scrap of paper taped somewhere on it that came off, it says:

 

99 00300013. #

 

Used to have another sixer that I grew up with, but I don't think it was a heavy. No idea where it went =(

A photo would make that sound a whole lot more believable as the the silver writing on the boxes were the absolute very first.

Here it is! And I also noticed the orange text under the main title

that says 'The Super System . . . with 10 to 50 dynamite game variations per Game Program.' is not on the other 1978 boxes

I've seen either ( or of course the 4-switch )

I can guarantee you it's the actual item, I've been collecting for a few years now, have about 200 sealed

carts ( including OBELIX, Glib, etc ), this sealed 6 switch, the sealed 4 switch you see underneath, a sealed

promo 4 switch and a CIB factory reconditioned 6-switch

 

I got it off Ebay, the guy that sold it joined solely for the purpose of selling this, 0 feedback, which I think

scared a lot of people off. I've been ripped off on 'sealed' consoles before so I was really taking a chance.

But I've thoroughly inspected this and the original glue seals are definitely intact. This is definitely my

pride and joy!

 

Now what would you consider an 'extremely good price'? Right now there is a sealed 1978 version sitting

at $510, a few weeks ago one went for $2000!!

Very interesting box you have there, sounds like you have a very nice collection going. Sound like you have a lot of hard-to-come-by stuff, how did you come across all of it? I see you haven't posted much on here so I'm assuming it wasn't from online trading.
