Any advantage using Pseudo Saturn Kai? It is possible to flash an Action Replay cart with it or buy one where someone has done it for you. I did it myself, and I remember it being a pain in the rear since my Saturn was not modded. I haven't used that flashed cart for a fair number of years since installing a mode, and my Saturn's cartridge slot is very fussy. I need to get a 2nd Saturn with a working cart slot and to use discs if I ever feel like it.

I dunno... I just bought a pre-made one.

Yeah, the Stunner is getting expensive. I was looking into getting a second one, but I don't know anymore. There is a decent deal on ebay for a Japanese Stunner (which is Black) plus Virtua Cop 2 for like $70 or so last I checked.

I gave you a link to the Action Replay Plus in my previous post. Don't worry about any of the other various carts out there, the Action Replay is pretty much required gear for the Saturn gamer. Being an import enabler gives you so much better options, not only in game selection, but also can save you some cash in the long run, where the Japanese versions of games are most often quite a bit cheaper than the US counterparts. It also has all the memory space you'll ever need.

Yep, I ordered the one you linked  😁   So thanks for that!

I also ordered a set of guns with Virtual Cop 1 and 2.  So I have those coming, and already have the Satiator and HD Retrovision cables, so I should all set jump down the ol' Saturn rabbit hole for a bit.

I thought about snagging a Mission Stick for Afterburner, but the 3D Controller seems to work well enough for me.

I think I know what the issue is, the Saturn doesn't support component output, this cable just converts RGB to YPbPr, it might be changing the signal slightly, so yeah, maybe you should try composite or S-Video.

Which cable are you using? HD retrovision with the Saturn Adapter?

Out of the 2 types, it actually seems to works best with component from my testing.   And yep, HD Retrovision with the adapter.

Finally stopped “checking out a bunch of games” and actually committed to playing one, and my first ever game completion on Sega Saturn is -- Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean

I liked it overall.  At times it felt great, at times it was just a slog that felt very uneven.  Like, random encounters so frequently that it’s a chore to properly explore anything, but by fighting them all, you find yourself quickly over leveled to the point of no real thought or strategy involved.  This could be the first RPG I’ve ever played where I never saw a single game over screen.

And part of the “uneven” bit – occasionally, I’d find new gear (YAY!) and about 2 battles later, find new gear to replace that gear which made me think they probably should have spaced that out a bit.

Overall, though, I enjoyed it.

I consider Guardian Heroes to be Treasure's best Saturn game, and it is quite sad that they don't make new games anymore. (Considering the 30th anniversary of Gunstar Heroes, I thought that this was worth mentioning.) Come to think of it, there are a surprising amount of Role-Playing games for the system.

Yes - just imagine (if you can stand to), a Dreamcast sequel to GH, still in 2D with multiple planes.  Daaaaaaang.

Just got back from the local arcade. They were having a Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-dama tournament there. They actually have regular tournaments for this game, and after some research, not only is apparently a really good multiplayer puzzle game, the Saturn version is really damn close to the arcade version from what I understand, and better than the PS1 version, which is missing some stuff for whatever reason. It's super cheap, so I'll probably try to go find a copy this weekend, but if you want a nice puzzle game for Saturn that isn't Hanagumi Taisen Columns, this seems to be one to try.

I got that Tokimemo puzzle game today. Paid 600 yen for it, went back to my house, and got completely demolished by it because it's one of the hardest games I've played in my life.

If you want a puzzle game that will relentlessly and mercilessly beat the shit out of you and make you feel ashamed for even trying, this is the one to get.

Really good game, though, and now I know why Mikado has multiplayer tournaments for this game basically every month or so, but I don't think I'd ever go near this thing in single player in the arcade. Play the game in multiplayer a lot because it's going to be awesome that way, but the AI will eat you alive and then laugh at you.

Intrigued by this too...seems a lot easier than getting a Fenrir installed.  Let us know how it goes!

4 screws to remove the case and about 3 to remove the old drive then reverse this process? Lot cheaper.... Satiator is nice though if you want to keep the cd drive
