I want to let people know that, unfortunately, I've not been able to contact Left Turn Only yet.

 

I'm hopeful that we will be able to get some cartridges mailed during the Christmas holidays. I'm sorry about the situation, but it was a known risk before the preorders.

 

If anyone wants a preorder refund, they can get one. However, keep in mind that the price given for the preorder was a special price that discounted shipping quite a bit. Any orders for Robot Army/Infiltrator after we have shipped the preorders will be at full price.

 

Also, before asking for a refund, please consider that we need close to 200 LTO shells and circuit boards to fill the preorders, it is quite probable that any cartridges received after that will be used to release Cat Attack!!! (Finished), Star Mercenary (Finished), and The Pandora Incident "-Enhanced Edition-" (Finished). So, it could be a while until Robot Army and Infiltrator are on sale again. Sorry for the bad news. It sucks.

This is the situation report with the games:

 

BOTH Robot Army and Infiltrator are tested and working as they should. Robot Army has phoneme voice placeholders in the game. Infiltrator is supposed to have voices, but does not at the moment. We are still waiting for Joe to do the encodes. Both games are playable as is. 

 

The boxes, and cartridge stickers to both games are printed. The bonus Infiltrator CD is in hand and ready to pair with the game. 

 

The manual for Infiltrator is 99 percent done and will need proof reading and then printing.

 

The manual for Robot Army is not complete yet and will need proof reading and printing. Both can and will be done before the cartridges arrive.

 

The overlays are designed for both games and will be printed by the time the cartridges arrive. I'm currently looking for a cost effective printing solution in Thailand, but if I'm unable to find a suitable solution (I'm printing 10,000 overlays for various games), I'll be printing just what is needed in the USA for the preorders and they'll be ready when the cartridges arrive.

 

Both games require JLP cartridges and the only current supplier is Left Turn Only. Also, our stickers are designed for the LTO shell, so there is no alternative solution for shells at the moment other than from LTO. 

 

I'm currently in talks with a group that is hoping to bring out something very similar to the JLP and LTO shells. This should take a number of months if not the entire year. If LTO does not come back, I'm hoping that this will allow us to release games that were specifically written for JLP features. 

 

I've decided that if I cannot get the game shipped by spring (northern hemisphere) 2022, I will be sending the ROMs for both games (without encoded voices) to preorderers free of charge. Then, we can decide to do one of the following:

 

1. Wait for Left Turn Only to ship cartridges and encode voices. I cannot say when this will happen as I've not been able to contact Left Turn Only. 

2. Refund - Keep in mind, that these games won't be generally available after the preorders ship. I'll be putting all resources into shipping the other unreleased games. So, it will be a while before any copies of these two games ship aside from the preorder copies. Also, keep in mind, that refunds will put a lot of financial pressure on Elektronite and make further releases less likely. So, please consider this before requesting a refund. 

3. We can develop some titles that do not require JLP cartridges and substitute Robot Army and Infiltrator preorders for those titles.

4. We can wait for the development of this new cartridge that will possibly have JLP features and can run the preorder games and then ship the preorder games 'as is' with no voice encodes. 

 

I have a number of JLP cartridges in sealed new copies of games such as Defender of the Crown. Unfortunately, I have fewer than 100 cartridges, so I cannot put the games on those cartridges. I will however, be converting unsold games to make a small run of games that I can sell. This will raise enough money to keep the lights on until we find a solution to the cartridge situation.

No problem. Preorders are closed anyhow. I gave preorderers a break on shipping for allowing me to raise funds for producing the materials. Unfortunately, the cartridge (of the type we need) shortage has really derailed things. 

 

When Cat Attack!!!, Star Mercenary, and The Pandora Incident ship, along with 'complete in box copies' of TNT Cowboy, A-F, and Ninja Odyssey, I'll be selling copies of Robot Army and Infiltrator. It will just take a little longer than if you had preordered.

It is time to deal with these preorders. I'll be giving preorderers 3 options for resolution of the preorders of Robot Army and Infiltrator. Stay tuned for details.

In order to deal with the Left Turn Only cartridge shortage, I am currently in talks with a group trying to build a JLP compatible cartridge.

 

I estimate that it will take the better part of 2022 in order to get a replacement at a minimum.

 

We need to plan for a replacement cartridge in case Left Turn Only does not ever return from its hiatus.

 

In the meantime, I'd like to deal with the preorders before that happens.

 

For the people who preordered Robot Army and then later Infiltrator, a shipping/payment fee discount was given.

 

Robot Army was $80 US down from a regular $90 and Infiltrator was $75 down from a regular $90 (when shipped alone).

 

I have decided to wait until the end of April 2022 to see if I can secure some cartridges from Left Turn Only.

 

 If I cannot, I'd like preorderers to select 1 of 3 options.

 

Option 1. (Not a preferred option)

Simply wait for cartridges to be available. The timeframe is unknown. At any time, people who select option 1 may switch to option 2 or 3. People who select option 1, will be given the first priority when cartridges are available and will

be the first to receive the game(s).

 

Option 2. (Preferred by Elektronite)

For Robot Army, in lieu of the physical copies of the game, you will receive the following UNPROTECTED ROMS;

 

That means that they will run on JzIntv based emulators, or any LTO Flash!. They are NOT supported on older emulators such as Bliss or Nostalgia.

Robot Army (exclusive to preorderers until the game ships) $20 US value

Star Mercenary (a premium unreleased game - exclusive to preorderers until the game ships) $30 US value

Miner 2049er (first time release unprotected) $20 value

Hover Bovver (first time release unprotected) $20 value

Option 3. (NOT preferred by Elektronite)

A full refund via PayPal. That's it.

 

Please keep in mind that we have had our income cut off due to the lack of cartridges.

 

We are trying to get out complete in box copies of TNT Cowboy, Ninja Odyssey, A-F, Robot Army, Infiltrator, Star Mercenary, Cat Attack!!! and The Pandora Incident, not to mention making our back catalogue available for purchase.

 

If you ask for a refund, we will of course refund your money. However, if too many people request refunds, it will make things impossible to release the above list of games.

 

If you think that "I will simply ask for my money back and get the game(s) when they are available", it probably won't work out that way.

 

I have a lot of games in the pipeline that need cartridges. I intend to ship the game(s) to preorderers and then move on to other unreleased games such as Star Mercenary. Refunds en masse will essentially put Elektronite out of business.

 

It will be quite a while before anyone but the preorderers get a complete in box copy of Robot Army and Infiltrator.

In further news about Robot Army and Infiltrator, we have located an early version of the Intellivoice encoding software. Whilst it is not up to the usual quality, we are going to attempt to encode the voices for both Robot Army and Infiltrator and hopefully come up with something that is usable. 

 

The overlays have just printed for both Robot Army and Infiltrator and we'll be finishing up the manuals and sending them to the printer's soon. They should be in hand before the end of April deadline for getting cartriges.

I have to stick with option 1 myself and hope that it works out.The completed boxed games are what I am hoping ? 

I have already purchased most of those Roms previously for the purpose of supporting Elektronite to get out games CIB and to be able to makes the boxes for other games,which very thankfully happened.

I hope all goes well for yourself and Elektronite moving forward and the best case scenario is achieved.

I guess we have until the end of April to decide.  Hopefully LTO returns but I suspect that will not happen.

 

For me; I want to play these games.  I will probably opt for the digital ROMs then purchase the carts when that becomes available, so option 2.  Yes I own 2 of these ROMs in protected form already and 3 in cart format.  I'm also encouraged that we have a new potential cartridge manufacturer for the Intellivision.
