Nukey Shay (Kurt Howe) has died. :(

Recommended Posts

My condolences go out to his family.  Nukey’s portfolio of hacks is amazing and he always seemed to do his best to implement suggestions from the community.  My favorite of his hacks is Missile Command Arcade with the Track & Field controller support

RIP Nukey and thank you for your contributions to the community.

It didn't sound good when somebody recently noticed he hadn't posted in a while. Very sad to hear of Kurt/  Nukey' s death.

He would take extended breaks from time to time over the years so it wasn't totally out of character for him to be absent for a while. This time though, it's the worst case scenario :(

When Ballblazer started that thread asking about Nukey Shay I thought to myself it hadn't been that long since I saw a post of his has it. I guess it had been. Rest in peace Kurt.

His lifetime achievement award was announced after his death. I wonder if he had already been told.

..and the stuff he could do with Atari games was mind blowing.

Not only technically capable, but creative in a way that was useful and desirable. Like adding new features or expanding on a game's premise.

Very nice guy. A shame we won’t have any more contributions from him to the VCS community.

He went out of his way to disassemble Golf (2k) and improve the display kernel for the game. (note: I have 9 more fairways created, but haven’t completed the obstacle placement for those holes yet.)

I don't even know him, but I'm feel like crying right now...
May you rest in peace, Nukey Shay... ?

Oh yeah, umm... this comment was written on 9.19.2021, at 4:41 PM. So, I don't even know if this is going to show up, or later get seen.
