LOL Yeah mainstream media always changes to it to calculators from computers those in the proof reading department don't remember home computers being a thing the average person working today only recalls that Texas Instruments was the calculator company. Gary from OPA
17 minutes ago, senior_falcon said: How on earth did you get elephantiasis? That is super rare. Dominican Republic? Most likely it was caused by a infected mosquito as I was very sick and in the hospital near the end of 2019 with a infection caused by insect bites, they cured that but 3 months later my lymph nodes and system died and I was going to get proper treatment from clinic in February 2030 but then COVID lockdown started and the clinics closed so it only got worse with no early treatment now slowly with some physiotherapy it will get better but it will never be gone as its chronic now. It's not that rare on our planet of 7 billion people about 1.6 million are living with it now, most of them from India due to poor conditions over there, but they also have specialists there that been able to do surgery and make improvements but we have nothing like that in Canada it's not even covered under our public health care unless you are over 65 so I been fighting the system to get approved for disability coverage as then at least most of my treatment cost will be covered by our local Ontario health care system here. It's not easy after working for a few hours sitting or walking it swells up and is painful but at least it goes down a bit while I am resting so I normally do like 6 hours up and 3 hours resting in cycles throughout the day which also limits what kinds of jobs I can get if I spend more than 6 hours up it gets worse and much more painful and then I need to rest for 12 hours or more to recover. Sorry for the bad light as I took these at night with no flash but this is my leg after being up too long during the day. 1
senior_falcon
That is horrible! Thankfully it is very rare in North America, but that's not much consolation if you are one of the victims. I hope you can get some relief. If that isn't a disability, then I don't know what one is.
Gary from OPA
Almost March and the weather is already warming up here in Scarberia. Today, I got my WHTech SCSI card working on my main TI99 with a SyQuest EZ135 drive and the ZuluSCSI adapter. The perfect Retro marriage of Hard Drive cartridges as Drive 1 and 6 Virtual Images on the SDcard. VID_114751129_225556_187.mp4

Gary from OPA
Had a great time earlier today chatting again with Mr. Big about retro computers like Amiga and my love for TI99 and Sci-Fi shows. Sometimes they were even used as cool props in movies: "The Terror Within (1989)" you can find a TI-99/4A in the control room of the Mojave bunker.

Oddly enough, those ribbons generally sold for $50 or so when the printer was new. I had one of these too--but for some reason, the pins on it ate color ribbons like candy. Worked perfectly with the black ones though. . .
Gary from OPA
Got my old Assembly Lister working and updated as Phoenix 2060 brand, a simple Extended Basic program that prints out your Assembly and GPL source code on paper in a nice two column format with headers to make reading, editing and archiving all your #TI99 programming code easier.

Gary from OPA
Amazing how fast time flies, this time last year, I was counting down the days to get released from Federal SeaTac after having earlier winning my right to get time off my sentence under the First Step Act, and just 13 days later, I was finally transferred to the Tacoma ICE detention center to wait for my deportation back to Canada. Today, now I am at the Sunnybrook Clinic here in Toronto having my 3 month checkup on how my chronic lymphedema is doing in my left leg and to get the custom orthotics in my shoes adjusted for my walking. So this is a good time to thank everyone for their support and best wishes in being able to get my life back together in such short order and to also remind those out there still with a good caring heart that I am still fighting the local Ontario government for my ODSP monthly disability and every little bit that you donate towards my GoFundMe helps to continue my medical treatment and costs. https://www.gofundme.com/f/garyopa-restarting-his-life Looking forward to my first year of Canadian Freedom and my upcoming first birthday without bars and guards. Thanks again everyone! 🙏🤝❤️💯 VID_164120907_130523_265.mp4

Seems my video still works and plays when I view AtariAge on Firefox on my pixel 7 phone, but it display as error when I view the forum thread on Firefox on my windows 10 laptop. So I guess I have to somehow pick a format that works for the majority of users out there, I wonder if there a simple app that I can use on my pixel 7 to convert my camera video before posting if I want to do it via mobile but still have other users be able to view it from desktop. Very end of the article mentions an app for Android. I am not a phoneposter so I have no real advice for you. https://www.cisdem.com/resource/hevc-to-h264.html
Gary from OPA
Build another desk and squeezed into my office, so now I have 3 complete ti99 systems running. A v2.2 QI console with Myarc Expansion sidecar and a fully CorComp TI99 PEB system and fully Myarc with avpc and scsi peb system. That just leaves a totally original ti peb system not hooked up and another PEB system with memex and hdfc but missing the geneve, and another PEB stuffed with prototype ti cards. At some point when I get missing parts I will setup the last 3 peb systems, but most likely since I am running out of room I will get two PEB joiner devices and expand my existing two full PEB systems with second PEB so I have more slots for more cards on both. That will just leave finding somehow space for the geneve if I ever get the geneve board again at a good price, too bad my last one got totally wrecked by hurricane Matthew. Oh'well.
+Ksarul
So which prototype TI cards are in the odd PEB? It would be interesting to see if any of them are cards we haven't otherwise seen in the wild lately.

The double density floppy controller, the 128k memory, ieee488 gpib card, weird modem on a card. Sadly, my grom external pizza box got lost, but I still have have the cartridge half for the console. And darn it a couple of ti prototype carts are missing as well.
