Reminder round ends Monday 21st Feb 10pm UK time. Already 21 voters in the round 3 poll, and nobody knows what is winning, luckily they are all great games ;-) Poll is pinned at the top of the HSC forum.

With 5 hours or so to go we have a whopping 26 voters for R3 poll

Improved on HERO to level 15 - 118,885 and speed run 20,390 just need to be more careful as you want to play the whole game at speed :)

Like in DK you can pause on the death if you are quick enough [space]

Not that I'll manage an "oh my" score or anything in this HSC, but being a regularly submitting high scorer elsewhere, my solution to that problem-

ALWAYS record.

:)

Not so easy on real hardware but I do have a built in video recorder on my old CRT that I use!

Probably final score from me: 167,785 level 18. Did much better at the fall through the moving walls, too many men lost by silly moves!

Once you've mastered the timing of the moving walls you should be able to get to the end (level 20)

Ah, I got lucky, several years ago my generous Wife insisted on buying me a (then) supercomputer-I do clean up space every now and again, but the storage is just ridiculous.

I'm very, VERY hit and miss with the quality of my recordings, haha, there is a large window near my setup that I just have to deal with, so "time of day" often affects it-no lie, I kinda like it that way, I'm often afraid of "highly produced" scoring attempts.

Naw, this game ticks me off(hang tight, I LIKE it, a lot!), most of my Friends/Mentors can easily nine line this, and they are people I can often keep up with, tho usually on timed games, to be fair.

But it's not like "if I could just get this right, and that right", I'd get it, I am INCREDIBLY off, for one that likes to brag about his scoring ability, lol.

Usually my excuse is that I can't shoot at stuff too good(I know....that's a BIG hole, lol!), especially straight up(Megamania/Spiderfighter, those are not in my skill range, at all...), but that's no excuse here-tho you have to be careful, because there IS a timer, it's a speedrun, like it or not, and usually I can figure out some "way" to motivate myself to improve on those type games.

(Doggone It!, in a recent 2600 HSC-I beat the best on that, even the Author, I found my own creative way to make a speedrun out of a game that really isn't...).

My CIB copy for the 2600 is prolly one of my more "valuable" items, tho, tho I don't really keep up with such.

Yeah, really, really good game, and I imagine being willing to practice by starting on higher levels would help, but...

Practice? We're talking about practice?

(Thanks, A.I., lol).

Again, me is new to the Atari PC still-played this on most/all other versions, this is the nicest looking-best playing version by far, an example of my newfound knowledge that the Atari PC's seem to be "what you expect from the 80's", but just a tad better.

All Men Rescued?! Congratulations to oyamafamily, nads and McKong for completing the mission and taking the win for the round  HERO is still a good game and nice to play it here again. Thanks for playing everyone - late scores welcome for anyone who missed this round (or R1) :) Please check your scores!
