I think the 2600+ always outputs @ 60 Hz (with NTSC scanlines). This causes jerky movement for PAL-50 games. Do you face the same problem with 7800 PAL games? Can you check what your TV tells about the output format?

I am still waiting for my 2600+. Will get it in 2 days.

Hmmmm, well, I would be very happy to be proven wrong in this case I assure you! 🤷‍♂️😝

I also don't think it will ever work either. Would be very happy to see it tho. I AM hopeful the 7800 issues can be addressed. And homebrews eventually, if the devs are passionate enough and want to bring support to us 2600+ owners.

For now, the harmony cart developer mode workaround is a big help to bridge the gap.

I also own a composite modded light sixer, so I can (and could for years) play harmony cart and all homebrews but it's been lying around unused for a while as TV upgrades removed composite as an option. So as noxious as 2600+ might be to some, and as limited, it is a way for many of us to play these games outside a computer or handheld in the living room for a first time in a while, so I'm hoping to see better 2600+ support moving forward.

I played Galaga 7800 today.for about an hour was really smooth, very enjoyable.

Doesn’t sound like the worst job you have… 😁

Perhaps put this type of work under a special department done by specialists in your company …? 😄

Colleagues look at me gone out playing games all day with a frown. I shout back at them "I know that look, fuck you, I'm working and making us money!!"

The hardware cannot magically do what it is not designed to regardless of firmware.

In another thread some folks are reporting that it read 7800 originals from the Dragonfly - one game at the time.

The DragonFly, which I have, is connected via its own energy-cable, and upon being turned on you get to see a meny-system which lets you select category then game.

Then it asks to turn on the console for the game to be read.

(I don’t have an Atari 2600+, so these reports are from others on another thread)

This could mean Atari would want AtariAge to obtain the blueprints for the Dragonfly, and have it flying and buzzing around in its shop for ages to come.

(Not for free of course. Pay the designer for the blueprints, and sell it on AA for a reasonable price)

If they can fix firmware to get emulation perfected both for every conceivable 2600- and 7800-title, that’s another way to get to the goal, - win the game -, so to speak.

You need to open position-posts for specialist game-testers.
The wage could be 120€/hour, perhaps 1200€/hour for more challenging games (I’ll sign up as your Scrapyard Dog special-tester 😁🐶) and could be a standalone- or in combination with other positions…

… the slogan could be ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’.

If not for any other reason, the slogan alone, would put those lazy harware tech-nerds into some high-gear action…

This is why the included "multicart" uses DIP SWITCHES to effectively select a game and turn the cart into a single game cartridge at that time. The hardware cannot magically do what it is not designed to regardless of firmware.

Atari should have the monetary means to pay for blueprints from the producer of the Dragonfly, and should make it (or an upgraded version) a thing that could be bought on the AA-store.

Easy user-accessibility to a broad range of games, is something that would help make Atari become (more) relevant again within retro-game circles, or just even as a reach-out to ‘run-of-the-mill casual retrogamers’, wanting to

(re-)experience fond memories of games they played as kids, but which are now hard or expensive to obtain…

Providing accessible easy-to-use hardware is what is in the process of happening now, and therefore making progress in that process, is something I believe can open up lots of opportunities for Atari, without getting bogged down with having to secure full sets of reproduction-titles first etc.

Rarities and Repro-carts can happen later over time.

Personally for me the harmony cart is a more sensible device than something that has power and leads coming out of it. No matter how good it is, I don't want that frankenstein setup, i'm getting this thing specifically to make life easier with HDMI connection and USB C lol.

While I am not going to hide my excitement about being able to load 2600 games I can't easily get ATM in cart form via Harmony developer mode... i did kinda of get this thing to have as a physical cart machine with a limited number of games I really love, so I am planning on obtaining real carts where I can for games I really play alot.

I just don't wanna pay scalper prices.
