It's funny looking back now at when this product was first announced, so many people especially around here were claiming that there was no market for this  (bla bla  it isn't fpga so the hardcore aren't gonna buy it bla bla it only has 10 built-in  games so casuals won't like it either etc ) wonder what the cope is going to be now that it's obvious for anyone to see that this console is going to be a great success for Atari 🤔

Success is usually measured in terms of number of units sold.  How many units were sold via Amazon Germany?

Answer: it doesn't matter, because it's way too early to tell.  Calling it a success or failure at this point would be pointless as it's neither.

The hotel deal is already dead, and along with it their association with the company that created the Atari token.

As I understand it, the hotel and token licenses are not at all related. Token was a licensing deal with ICICB. New leadership did not like how they executed, cancelled the deal. Full stop.

Hotel is also a licensing deal, with a different entity, GSD Group. Don't know where they are at the moment, the pandemic blew up their timeline.

Some articles conflated the ICICB termination with the hotel license. It was confusing. There were some virtual casinos, and other metaverse projects I believe within the ICICB umbrella. Those are all terminated.

No disagreement from me on either count.

I hold a similar perception of him and am waiting to see if the same thing happens as well.

FWIW, my comment was intended to be taken facetiously; should've been a bit clearer about that.  Seeing the guy with the history of trying to suck people into his Atari stock pump-and-dump scheme speaking as though he wasn't trying to carry on the tradition was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

You must not be paying any attention... I'm not trying to suck anyone into anything....I just post news..and facts...both good and bad.  I readily (and often) call Atari out for the dumb things they do.

I'm also not pumping and dumping...I've been invested in Atari for 6 or 7 years now...have never sold a single share...and just keep buying more.

So your attempt at making yourself laugh at my expense just makes you the fool.

Thanks. I stand corrected.

The confusion arises mostly because of this line in Atari's FY23 financial report:

"Atari announced the termination of all license agreements with ICICB Group and its subsidiaries (“ICICB”). The license agreements between Atari and ICICB, including the Atari Chain license (the “Joint Venture”) and the related licenses including hotel and casino licenses, have been terminated effective April 18, 2022."

I didn't realize until now that there were two hotel deals. Holy moley!

Yeah ... I hear you it is word soup sometimes. I mean, a few of the articles that came out in April came to the same conclusion.

But one is the hotel licensing deal with a company that actually is in the hotel business

I don't really know as much about the ICICB piece. There may have been a lot in that agreement that they just never actually did. There were physical Atari Casinos in Africa, I didn't think those were related to ICICB. A lot of the ICICB casino references were to virtual casinos. It was a use case for the token ... but as noted the execution issues ...

Our blockchain/web3 interests at this point are so far removed from all of that ...

There were 2 hotels deals- the original U.S. Atari Hotels is with GSD Group- and is still active.

Then ICICB partnered for Atari Hotels in other countries.  That is the one that was cancelled.

The U.S. ones have done a substantial amount of sponserships- A Nascar truck, a Ferrari race car, numerous different off road race trucks and the GasGas motocross team and Troy Lee

Any discussion about $$ amounts related to stocks and such is a bunch of malarkey unless converted to the demonination of speaker hat.

This thread has gotten a little off track, but I think I can speak for all AtariAge users when I say that the most important question that Atari can answer is this; did Atari get the rights back to Math Gran Prix?

Did you know? Atari and Activision programmers used the word "Prix" in game titles because they knew little kids and uneducated adults would say "pricks." It made the game designers feel all tingly in their naughty parts for upsetting so many parents and store clerks. :D

Oh, OK.  So you're not doing it now.  Got it.  Sure as hell did try it in the past, though.

With the history you have both here and elsewhere, the smart thing for you to do would be to just go away.  You'll fit in better on Reddit.

It is permissible to check out the “competition”

but @TrogdarRobusto how about a licensing deal so Atari can include Battlezone in Atari 50.

I want all the Battlezones!  Though the last(?) That supports VR may be difficult for some systems to run.  (If you haven't played that in VR, you should, it is awesome!  Though freaking hard.)
