This round we’ll be playing BattleWheels for the first time ever! It's Twisted Metal on a handheld, long, long before the PSP or even Twisted Metal itself! Most of the discussion of this really cool game on AtariAge is about buying it. More people need to play it! Hopefully you will be one of them!

We are also playing the awesome homebrew Raid on TriCity. We will be playing the preview version for a level playing field, but you should get the full game!

 

I'm extending this round by a week due to the late start. I'm also adding an open extension for all the games this season until Halloween, so try to improve your scores!

Settings - radar / 10 kills / 5 cyber / single / action mode / master difficulty / cash 10000 / any class

HSC Record: None yet!

Description: Destroy your enemies and their cars any way you can! Try to make it to the end! Post the final results screen and calculate what percentage of the total kills are yours. That’s your score for this challenge!

Bonus Challenge: 1 point times the number in the tens column of your kill percentage. Score 50% of the kills and you get 5 bonus points! Only score 49% and you only get 4! I don’t know if it’s possible to get 100% of the kills but if it is you could get 10 ranking points!

Raid on TriCity - First Impact

 

We're playing the original release of Raid on TriCity, the followup to Tetris Raiden. It's a very fun game and unlike anything else I've ever played! The Second Wave release on physical cartridge and Evercade VS adds a story mode - if you enjoy this, and I hope you will, I hope you pick that up! The Arcade mode feels very close in First Impact and Second Wave, so maybe @Fadest will let us use real cartridges!

Description: Destroy the bugs and powerdowns, don't let the bombs touch bottom, don't let the blocks fill the screen, and collect powerups!

Yes, First Impact and Second Wave share the same Arcade mode. Difficulty is just starting at a different pace that ramp up afterward.

 

Remember you can move the ship on every block, so also up and down, and not only left/right, and that the goal to make big score is to complete lines and gain levels.

Here’s my first run at Battlewheels:

 

 

I got 12 kills out of 25 = 48%.

 

Still won though!

 

 

The manual is super useful - it’s really required reading.

I guess I scored 10 out of 20 for 50%.  Is the top row the last round? The bottom row is cumulative?

 

Edit: 10 out of 19. I suck at basic math, so I will definitely not try to figure out what my percentage is now. Although it should still be 5 in the tens place.

Yes, for Raid on TriCity, you can either download the game here :

or use the physical cartridge. Arcade mode is the same on First Impact (free downloadable game only) and Second Wave (physical release)

The version included on the Evercade vs as hidden game is also the same as the physical release, and the game is also available on Argon.

 

 

To celebrate the inclusion of the game into the Lynx High Score Club, I have just added the full version of Raid On TriCity Second Wave (including the roguelike story mode) as free download on itch.io.

Yes! The top row is how many kills you got in the previous round and the bottom row is how many you got in total. You’re at 52.63%!

I find Raid on Tricity most fun on Frenetic, but I think I could score better on Standard.

All time Raid on TriCity record for me: 31006! On Standard. I am not sure how attainable the top 2 scores on the scoreboard are…

Don't realy like/understand BW, but won a game... Don't ask my why and which score to post, sorry...

Raid on Tricity makes much more fun, reached 21,313 points.

There is one more week to go. I will not be at home, but will take my LYNX with me. Maybe there is time to improve my score.

Aw, if there’s anything I can do to make BattleWheels more understandable just let me know! Basically you have a number of different weapons that shoot in different directions. You choose a weapon that goes in the direction an enemy is in and shoot, and try not to get hit. You can get out of your car but you’re easy to kill if you do.

 

You got 11 out of 40 total kills, so your score/kill rate is 11/40 = 27.5%!
