RevEng
My pleasure! I didn't know that about the Jaguar... the Maria design started out as a co-processor for gcc's aborted "spring" ibm pc compatible. I always wondered what that would have looked like, so it's cool to hear that some of the ideas did make it to a more powerful platform.

JagChris
Great demo rev! Keep.pushing! Reminds me of some remark made in one of the Rikki and Vikki threads where someone said the backgrounds were black by necessity. Absolute statements really bother me.
Eagle
You need remember that Maria is similar to Jaguar Object Processor Screen is made by objects and branches (zones for Maria) On 6/21/2019 at 3:16 PM, TailChao said: Improving Maria's bandwidth isn't really feasible without replacing her. What Rikki & Vikki does instead is to only use 4-Byte (normal) Display Lists and attempts to combine multiple tiles into larger draws when their pertinent textures are sequential in memory and they all share a palette. If you've ever wondered why the game can stutter for two frames when you're tossing boxes around, this is why. The background manager has to unroll the new tile strips into Display Lists on any changes to the stage geometry.
