Bee
The USB stick arrived Friday. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/354998-atari-vcs-pc-mode-usb-on-sale-again/page/2/#findComment-5412721 Share on other sites
OscarGungan
Mine arrived today. I noticed on Atari.com on the VCS page the link leads to a 404 page now. Makes me wonder if this is discontinued and they are leaving people to do pc-mode as a do it yourself project. ATekGuy
For anyone that wanted one, the USB stick is back in stock! 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/354998-atari-vcs-pc-mode-usb-on-sale-again/page/2/#findComment-5457294 Share on other sites
MikeM_
This might warrant a different thread, but for those of you that got one, how is the is performance? I have Win 11 installed on a USB Samsung SSD and it performs pretty decently. Because I like to tinker, I went ahead and ordered the official Atari PC Mode drive and have been playing with it a little, but the performance is painfully slow. I know enough about Linux to poke around, but I have weird issues like not being able to change the user icon (graphic files in general seem to take forever for the os to recognize or even update thumbnails of), and long pauses where IO seems to be trying to catch up. RAM is maxed out so I don’t think there is any bottleneck if going on anywhere else. Am I just spoiled by having an SSD for my windows install, or did Atari send me a snail? Likely the difference is SSD vs USB, I've never seen a USB livedrive perform all that well on any system 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/354998-atari-vcs-pc-mode-usb-on-sale-again/page/2/#findComment-5567682 Share on other sites
