Just to let you know, you just passed 100,000 views on this thread.

Seems like a celebratory giveaway is in order!

Who doesn't love a giveaway? I hope I don't sleep through this one.

I received this in the mail today. From what I read, it's a Sears exclusive, text based Star Trek game? I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Awesome-sauce!  We do love collecting those once-discarded carts for our 2600+ consoles

Are there any details yet about the celebratory giveaway?  Is it something we can earn by posting something or is it a random drawing or did you mean just for the creator of this topic??? 🙂

Collecting for my Atari 2600+

Here’s my pickup from my local game store, most are duplicate's. All were 1 Dollar each except for Superman, it was 5 Dollars!

Honestly, every game (yes even Donkey Kong) is worth playing and certainly worth a dollar or two. Great pickup.

Love 2600 Donkey Kong. Think I actually prefer it to the 7800 version.

Oh boy I totally cannot say that, but I get why people appreciate it.  Of course some people can't understand how I can tolerate and even enjoy the music and sfx on the 7800 version, lol.

Having only the TIA chip for sound is a common criticism of the 7800 but I actually like it.  It doesn't (usually) sound just like the 2600, the 7800 is actually capable of making better use of the chip and using it to its fullest capabilities, while the 2600 is often too busy drawing lines I think.

When I purchased my first 7800, it came with several games, including DK and DK Jr. Both games became favorites of mine.

I have DK/DK Jr. for my ColecoVision and Intellivision consoles.

I do enjoy the 7800 versions of Donkey Kong and DK Junior. Probably in the top 5 7800 games, in my opinion.

The 2600 version of Donkey Kong is a great accomplishment on the 2600. Maybe they should have given the developer more time..
