Good Atari 7800 games

I only own impossible mission PAL . This game is pretty tough 💪. Once you get used to the controls, the platforming and collecting puzzle pieces isn't too difficult. I am finding the puzzle matching part difficult. 9 pieces and 4 parts to each puzzle. You have to rotate and change colour pieces also wtf!! 😕😂

Just homebrews for me. Plus testing all kind of bankswitching on my Otaku card.

I am mainly playing the games nominated for this years awards.

I am definitely buying some homebrew 2600/7800 carts from atariage store. Even thou I am in the UK. Fcuk the shipping and extra taxes. 👍

I don't have any homebrew yet, but I've got about 30 x 7800 carts. Lately I've mainly been playing Robotron, Ms Pacman, Commando and Galaga.

7800 might not have the biggest (official) library, but there are plenty of top quality games. Whether you can find them for a decent price is another matter

I guess they weren’t kidding with that name 😂

I gave up on this and the sequel in the Evercade C64 collections. Some devs had funny ideas about what constitutes an engaging challenge 🤔

Oh and I just have some arcade ports thus far. That will change in May! 😁

Here’s all my 7800 games.
Ace of Aces and Karateka aren’t that great IMO, but I love all the other ones I have.

Would love to see the homebrews get official Atari releases (doesn’t Atari own AtariAge now?)

Nice but looks like you need to add Fatal Run, Food Fight and Ninja Golf to that collection. 😁

I only have six old 7800 loose carts I've picked up from eBay.  Ranked from great to okay:  Ms. Pacman, Dig Dug, Food Fight, Robotron 2084, Pole Position II, Xevious.

Some reviews you can check out:  https://videogamecritic.com/7800.htm?e=92920

My suggestion if you are buying old carts off eBay: unless they are cheap, concentrate on the non-Atari games, such as Ms. Pacman.  Eventually Atari may re-release a game they own the rights to, such as Asteroids or Centipede, but they're rather unlikely to release non-Atari games like Donkey Kong...

My Ballblazer has a different label too

I didn't know there were different labels for different regions for 7800 carts, I thought they were all standardised.

In the case of Ballblazer, both the Red and Silver label versions were released under the NTSC region.

I try to get the old carts cheap if possible.  That's the thing, Atari could re-release more games.  I've slowed down on buying carts.  It might be best to wait and see what other titles Atari comes out with.  I was almost going to get Food Fight loose, but then Atari announced the re-release of it.  So I bought it.

A lot of great games in there. Moon cresta is one I would like to get hold of. Is it a close arcade port? 🤔

Yes, a good point. I was also going to buy the original food fight before Atari announced the re-release. They potentially could re-release many more.

I received an eBay purchase of Food Fight literally the day before the announcement.

I only paid $20 plus shipping, so I'm alright with that, but it makes me think I should hold off on purchasing any more used 7800 carts that are Atari IP.

I had a 7800 back in the day.  My favorite games at the time for it were Food Fight, Tower Toppler, Desert Falcon, and Rampage.  Pole Position II was also a classic.  Xevious was fun for a few minutes of play but it got boring pretty quickly.  I also liked Impossible Mission but I didn't know at the time it was literally impossible to finish because of that bug.  I probably couldn't have finished it anyway because I just wasn't very good at it.

The Atari 7800 didn't have a vast amount of games. What is everybody playing on the 2600+ ? Original games and homebrew 🤔

Right now the only 7800 game I play on the Plus is Robotron 2084.  I don't have any other original 7800 games at the moment.  But I do have two 7800 homebrews but I play them on my 7800.
