Mikie for Atari 8-bit computers

Recommended Posts

Good gentlemen,

Mikie v1.12: https://www.atariteca.net.pe/2024/05/mejor-compatibilidad-y-soporte-ntsc-en.html

1) changed startup image (no logo, NTSC colors will now be correct)
2) changed memory detection routine (already works on real XEGS and should work on virtually all weird memory expansions)
3) improved colors for NTSC
4 ) fixed title screen flashing in NTSC
5) new game description screens
6) new music when you type your name

Mikie v1.12.xex

This looks great, can't wait to give it a try.

BTW would be amazing if the title/splash screen was a new Beta 10 Rasta converter generated image, or at the very least a Graph 2 font image, (if size is an issue). :)

I have to say I really like the title as it is!

I like it too. Just love to see more rc in games, especially now it's enhanced and better than ever. Same goes for g2f. 😁

Either way, looking forward to the game immensely.

Actually I´m looking forward to this. Mikie was one of the few games which I played a lot on my friends C64.

Any chance of us getting a version without that obnoxious PAL "no game for you!" check? I'll wager that it will just run just fine on an NTSC-50 (PAL ANTIC swapped NTSC) machine. Probably run on an NTSC machine too with potential glitches.

Plays great on (PAL) 130XE, good to see this on an A8 after all this time.

Dosent seem to like A8's with Rambo or compy memory for some reason.  Just crashes once loaded up.

Has anyone tried this with U1mb so far?

Played it yesterday on my 130XE with U1MB set to 1024kB, game reported it all, and worked fine (though it is a difficult one, so far I did not manage to get out of the classroom :/). Otherwise, the machine has all-in: Sophia, VBXE, Stereo.

Often, these games will run on NTSC simply by turning off the music (Bomb Jack and Pang, for instance).

Gave it a quick run on Emulators: Crashes on Atari800MacX (different settings, no success) but runs fine in Altirra.

But real hardware is better for plaiyng, anyway. Will test different setups tonight. :)
