thanks for the map it gives me a little bit of a better understanding of where i can safely go without triggering the end of the demo. what annoys me about the demo is you basicly have no point to what you are suppose to do ,and it gives me a bad vibe about the full game if its going to be as pointless ,but i guess at least with the full game you can actually go off ,and do things more than just pointlessly killing zombies.

YES you definitely run into things to do along the way...The family of snipers for one, and have you been to the theater? Also there is a janitor locked in a surveillance room that calls you when he see's survivors. You have the option of completing whatever task he gives you for big big bonus points used to level up your character. Ultimately you are working your way through day by day trying to discover why this all is happening!! The game just reeks of awesomeness (and rotting zombies)!!!

That theater scene looked quite insane! And the sniper family did too, in much the same way

Has anyone found any firearms besides the shotgun you started with? Someone said on a different forum you can get a pistol from a cop around the fountains, but all I get are clubs from them. Maybe its only in the full version? Three more days until I get my copy in the mail!

Yeah, I've got a number of handguns from the mall cops. The ones near the start of the demo just seem to have nightsticks. Handguns just aren't that useful against the hordes though ;)

Have you done this?

Run into the bookstore and grab the book that gives you a 25% boost in points for pictures.

Now switch to shotgun and hightail it over to a group of zomba's .

Fire directly into the middle of the group and quick like hit left trigger to switch to camera mode and hit "x" to take a picture. Hopefully you'll catch a spray of crimson and bone on film and get like 1000+ points for the picture!

Good times.

I found an Uzi. You have to jump off the stairs onto the top of the stores' signs that stick out from the wall in the begining of the level, then you go towards where you came from. Go past the box and eventually you will see an Uzi. It has 100 rounds too. Its not as effective as the shotgun for crowds.

is it worth the 60 bux ,or should i wait till it goes down? i mean is there more substance to it than just a bunch of escort missions while fighting off zombies

You take pictures and you earn PP which you use to level your health up and other stuff like inventory space and the more likely you will get the Pulitzer Prize. The more people you save, the more chance you have to unravel the mystery of whats going on. There are other game modes too, theres one where you see how long you can last in the mall with your health dropping ever so often. But you have to unlock them. I think its worth the $60 I paid, but thats just me. You could always rent it. I wish the text is bigger though. I play on a 19 inch standard TV and I can barely read some of the stuff it has displayed.

I just got to the security room after going around at night. Its almost impossible to survive at night even if you carry four milks or orange juices. I haven't gotten used to the mall yet and its hard to know what to do because of the small text. Looks like I am going to have to buy a guide tomorrow.

We talked about this on another forum (prior to the games release) We were speculating that you might be able to baricade yourself in a food store at night? Dunno if that would work tho.

It might work, but that is a long time to sit and wait. Three seconds equals a minute in the game clock. There are also scoops that pop up that you are allowed to help people out and such. Right now I am focusing on the main story and beating the game. After that I will do the extra stuff and its almost impossible anyways to do all this thru one play. Right now, I have to find a handgun to fight this one guy with a sniper rifle since a baseball bat is out of the question.

EDIT

I am stuck for the first time Case 2-2. I let Brad finish the guy with the rifle, but his health is all the way down but he won't die. Instead he keeps shooting Brad and Brad dies. I tried this for the past hour and I am stuck and pissed off. I am going to make sure to get that strategy guide tomorrow.

Yeah, That was the point I brought up...If you did do that, you'd be missing out on a lot of experience points. On that same forum someone mentioned a quick easy way to get the picture achievement is to head up to the roof. Apparently there is a couple up there and they hug? Also there is one of those hidden picture stickers. Supposedly if you take a picture of the hugging and get the sticker in the picture you get like 10,000 points. Also someone suggested breaking open jugs of cooking oil and throwing a hand in the middle of the mess, when the zombies go to eat the hand, they start slipping and sliding, if you take pictures of a mass of them doing that, you get big big picture points. In any case, I haven'y gotten my copy yet :( Hopefully it'll be here before this week-end. I wanna try it out Sunday night.

Right now I'm where that woman chases you on a motorcycle, thankfully I got my guide today as well as 3 months of Xbox Live Gold. Fighting the cult people, yellow rain coats and green masks, was hard because I'd get gased and taken to their layer with no weapons. I used the submachine gun on them and golf balls since they can explode. What irks me most besides the small text, is that Otis calls you ALL the time. And its not the Metal Gear Solid type where you can skip it. He always does it too when theres a boss fight like fighting the store owner with the killer shopping cart.

Anyone rescuing the people in the mall? Some of them are pretty annoying - like that woman you have to literally carry. I got sick of her and just left her behind and she got turned into a zombie.

It also seems that you would spend an inordinate amount of time trying to rescue everyone if you choose to.

I won't be playing for a while though, 'cause my 360 dropped dead. Dead Rising was one game too many for it!

I'm finding it impossible to play on the analog TV. I think I'm going to run out tonight to get an HD VGA cable. Anyone try it that way yet? I'm going to swipe the 19" monitor of the desktop for awhile, I think it's WXGA.

I did play for about an hour on the analog TV without being able to read any of the mission text and very little of the conversations. Having a pretty easy time fighting off the zombies so far. Breaking a potted plant over their heads is fun, as is stuffing a detached zombie hand into their mouth.

I'm sure the increase in resolution will help you out using the VGA cable. NTSC standard TV resolution is crap.

I have the VGA cable and have tried it out (not with DR specifically though) and it does look quite nice on a monitor.

I am playing it with a VGA cable on a 21" monitor in highest resolution, it's nice.

What a horrible night to have a curse zombie infestation.

I decided to restart the game, luckily you start with your old stats. So I am at level 9, and I am going keep trying to level up and continue where I left off. Its just gotten too hard for me. The annoying cultists everywhere you turn and I didn't have access to the "Huntin' Shack" store for guns either which is a pain in the ass to defeat him too since there is very little cover and you can't duck down. Maybe in Dead Rising 2 Capcom will make the game funner and add a free roam mode without limits.

Anyone just going out into the Park and getting the car and just running over zombies?? Great fun.

I started out with 500 kills and then I went into the parking garage and got 2,000 in about a minute. Then my car wouldn't work so I had to blast my way with a can of beans I think, a submachine gun, and a knife. Luckily I found a truck, but I got lost. Eventually I made it out alive with one block of health, but I didn't save because the case would end in about 14 minutes. Does anyone know how to make it so that there aren't huge groups of those yellow raincoated cultists scattered around?
