MegaData
So, hypothetically, say that I get a game created in 10 to 20 years. Before the release of this game, I'll have to see if the creators of this JagCF are still around so that I can make sure my game is not pirated? I don't understand what makes a legitimate developer... anyone can release anything on the Atari Jaguar WITHOUT a license. It sounds like you're going against that very basic concept. The day we leave the Jaguar scene, we'll take appropriate measures so that the knowledge is not lost. And anyways, if we released the details publicly, you'd blame us for helping people who whant to crack the protection. You can't have it both ways. MegaData
There is a solution and it's obvious. Anti-piracy protection schemes are not trivial things, given today's technology. Why is it so difficult to just protect any commercial ROM image from running? No one would have to get permission on a game-by-game basis. Demos could still be played and ALL Commercial ROMs would be safe. Given the current specs, I don't think a developer is going to trust an easter egg code to protect their games or understand why it's so important to be able to play ROMs.

Shannon
So are we saying then, that. If they removed ROM support and then publically released the CF info before "dissappearing" off the face of the earth . Then someone could simply hack it to play ROM's and CF protected games? No. Might as well just kill it now... I'm sure that will make a few people happy. Edited October 26, 2006 by Shannon
