New Year's Day on Sunday
I remember a day when New Year's Day fell on a Sunday. It was 1/1/1995. Not one, but two comics ended on that day: The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes. It was sad. I'm sure New Years Day falling on a Sunday has happened a few times since then, but it's going to happen again. Looking back, and forward, I was going to premiere a new comic on 1/1/2023. I drew a couple of comics called "A Gnome, a Gnu, and a Gnat." I drew two of them. Then I got stuck.
So I started thinking about how Gary Larson describing how he drew The Far Side using one sheet of paper. I decided to try that out instead of fitting 6 on one page. The result was way better than all the other ones I've ever done:
I had insomnia. I couldn't sleep. I kept trying to think of different comic ideas. I thought of one, so I had to get up and go draw it. I'd figure I'd work on scanning and touchup when I woke up. So I finally fell asleep at around 3 a.m. or so. I woke up at about 2 p.m. It was a good thing I drew that comic that night, because I would think I would have forgotten it. I've always been intrigued by the dots instead of color. I think I like it better than color. So I'm going to start doing this now: Drawing one comic on one sheet of paper. I'll do one per week (it's hard to think up new comics after doing this for so many years) starting...1/1/2023.
So I'm doing all this so I don't get superbored while waiting to die. I figure I have about 40 years left. That's the same reason for doing all of my projects.
Despite working on my Game Boy game, it had been a while since I played a game. So I played Retroid (a homebrew Arkanoid clone) and Super Mario Land 2. I finally beat Wario using a Game Genie. Without it it would be really hard. I don't know why they made it so hard.
Looking at the comic I drew now. Man that guy has a big head.
