rabbit turds in my oatmeal

A long time ago, about eight years ago, I had an idea for a sitcom. I wanted to write a couple of scripts for it to see if and how it would work. I bought "The Hollywood Standard" by Christopher Riley, a reference book. I downloaded Celtx. And I wrote a couple of episodes. This was eight years ago.

Fast forward to today. I decided to come back to this little pet project of mine. I found the book. I booted up Celtx. It wasn't working correctly so I had to get a new scriptwriting program. Even though it's just for fun and I don't expect anyone to come calling me over this, I wanted to make it look as authentic as possible. Fortunately, the new scriptwriting program (I chose Fade In) let me import my old Celtx files so I wouldn't have to start over again.

So I worked some more on these, fixing mistakes and putting in act headers. You'd never know how much effort it goes into making your favorite sitcom until you write a script for it. It's a half-hour sitcom (who ever heard of an hour-long sitcom? Hey, that's a new idea. Perhaps I should stretch these out to an hour...) I don't know how many pages these should have. (The book says approximately a page a minute.) But still, I wrote. But the series needed a name. I toyed around with stuff like "Scott: Shrimp Cop" but ended up with the title "Rabbit Turds In My Oatmeal" because I couldn't think of any.

You can read the scripts I wrote here. I think it'd be just as good as any other sitcom on TV right now. I'm going to think of some new ideas and write a couple more episodes.
