800 Questions?

Does the 800 (NTSC) use the same PIA and POKEY as the XL and XE series?

I've successfully used and tested both PIA and POKEY from a 600XL in an 800.

I've also successfully used the motorolla MC6821P in place of the PIA chip.

PIA and POKEY are the same.

 

Diffs would be 400/800s could have a CTIA vs GTIA,

400/800 could use a 6502 or a Sally depending on the CPU card,

ANTIC has 2 versions and I believe both will work in a 400/800, some XLs can run both as well, and some XLs require the newer (depends on the RAM chips IIRC).

I believe all GTIAs are interchangeable.

 

This of course doesn't touch on NTSC vs PAL vs SECAM.
