Keir
Week of 3/13/23 - 3/19/23 Commodore 64 Phantasie II - 430 minutes I had some more game time this past week and decided to focus on Phantasie II, thinking I would finish it. I'm close but not quite there. While the earlier dungeons I can breeze through in one trip, the second to last one is quite difficult and I've already had to trek back to town 3 or 4 times to rest. The main problem seems to be that there is a greater need for spells but magic points are so limited! I hate that my fighters and thief have almost as many MP as my wizard. I also had a setback when of my fighters aged (apparently 29 is retirement age for an ogre!) At first I thought I would just deal with it for the remainder of the game, however not only did it mean she couldn't use any of her previous equipment (due to a -5 STR penalty) but the amount of XP she would need to level up nearly doubled! Instead I created a new fighter (a dwarf this time since they have much longer lifespans) and spent some time leveling him up. I just hope the time I spent doing that doesn't cause my 2 humans to age (they are already almost 40!) 6

All kinds of different little variations.
+wongojack
Intellivision Mission X 28 Star Wars Empire Strikes Back 20 Just a little bit of time in the Intellivision HSC for me. I thought I could swoop in and get an even higher score than last week on Mission X, but I ended up doing worse, so I just cut my losses and quit. Same with ESB. Neither of these games are very much fun at all.

Cannot recommend this enough. Like metal gear and flashback rolled together. Still only halfway at the island and have had to restart several times as I got stuck or used all my supplies. Interesting looking game. Will put it on my list to check out.

carlsson
Here's the summary for Week 11, running from March 13 - 19. We logged 3922 minutes of eligible play, playing 56 games on a total of 15 systems. Top 10: 1. Full Quiet (NES/Famicom) - 1230 min. 2. Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation) - 780 min. (#1) 3. Phantasie II (Commodore 64) - 430 min. (#7) 4. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 422 min. (#2) 5. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 158 min. (#6) 6. Zero Wing (Arcade) - 110 min. 7. Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis) - 85 min. 8. Eggomania (Atari 2600) - 58 min. 9. Super Skidmarks (Genesis) - 55 min. 10. Hishouzame (Hishou Same) (Arcade) - 53 min. Pre-NES top 10: 1. Phantasie II (Commodore 64) - 430 min. (PN#3) 2. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 422 min. (PN#1) 3. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 158 min. (PN#2) 4. Eggomania (Atari 2600) - 58 min. 5. Mission X (Intellivision) - 28 min. 6. Beamrider (Atari 2600) - 25 min. 7. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Intellivision) - 20 min. (PN#9) 8. Warhawk (Atari 8-bit) - 18 min. 9. Asteroids (Atari 2600) - 15 min. 10. Ms. Pac-Man (Atari 7800) - 10 min. Top 10 systems: 1. NES/Famicom (12 games) - 1384 min. (#4) 2. PlayStation (1 game) - 780 min. (#1) 3. Atari 2600 (22 games) - 762 min. (#2) 4. Commodore 64 (1 game) - 430 min. (#10) 5. Arcade (3 games) - 196 min. (#6) 6. Genesis (2 games) - 140 min. 7. Game Boy Color (4 games) - 84 min. (#5) 8. Intellivision (2 games) - 48 min. (#7) 9. Game Boy (2 games) - 35 min. 10. Atari 8-bit (2 games) - 26 min. The long awaited Full Quiet moves directly into first place, exactly 7.5 hours ahead of Final Fantasy VII. On the pre-NES list, the margin is a mere 8 minutes between Phantasie II and Solar Fox. Full Quiet helps the NES into first place on the systems list, while nearly two dozen Atari 2600 games are 18 minutes short of second place. As you see, the overall numbers were a bit on the low side this week, in particular as the pre-NES list ends off with Ms. Pac-Man at 10 minutes of playing. That doesn't stop us from celebrating two new club members: 1000 Minute Club: #522 Full Quiet (NES/Famicom) - 1230 min. 10000 Minute Club: Final Fantasy VII (Playstation) - 10731 min. (All-time #10) It means for the first time we have a game with more than 10000 minutes but not being in the all-time top ten, namely Pokemon Red Version (Game Boy) in 11th place. 3

carlsson
Atari 8-bit: Dawn Raider - 96 min. Warhawk - 13 min. So I failed to improve my previous score on Dawn Raider that I set in a 8 minute session, despite trying 12 times as long this time around. On the other hand I improved my score on Warhawk in fewer attempts than last week.

Keir
Week of 3/20/23 - 3/26/23 Commodore 64 Maniac Mansion - 130 Phantasie II - 220 NES Rainbow Islands - 15 Total time = 365 minutes This month's picture quiz had me itching to play Maniac Mansion again, and the final dungeon of Phantasie II was looking like it was going to take a long time so I took a break started that. I had played a lot as a kid and was never able to beat the game but now I am determined to do it (it is a lot easier when I can just look up the solution but I am avoiding doing that for now). After a couple hours of MM I returned to Phantasie II and was surprised when all of a sudden I came across the ice dragon and that was it! I finally finished Phantasie II, and in the process may have single-handedly put it in the 1000 minutes club. I may want to return to finish up some exploring just for completeness' sake but for now no more Phantasie.
